Air in the system. Bleed it from the top right hand side of the rad after the car gets warm. Do it after each drive and less and less air will come out. Use a shop rag when you open it because after the air comes out, hot coolant will fizzle out.

    Hi.
I own a 308 but the problem is the same, I think -please, if I'm wrong, 328 guys correct me-. You must bleed the circuit on the radiator and on the thermostat -act on the bleeding screw-. Is the air in the circuit that causes the overflow. If you do a search for "bleed" in Fchat you will find how to proceed.
Check it and tell us the result.

It can. Its a common set up ...seen on other cars, like alfa's. You must bleed /purge air out or it can interfere with proper liquid flow. Its like an air lock finding its way to the top of a passage, cuz air rises, or air pockets in more than one place, even. Air=bad news.

thank you all for the help....we'll give it try(bleeding the air).....some one told me it could be a exhaust head leak letting air into the system? (the oil looks OK--no water there) when i stop the foam-fluid flows very fast out of the over flow...4 or 5 stops and the holding tank is empty......

It might not be a bad idea to replace the expansion tank cap while you are at it.

Perhaps check your fans again - they deteriorate over time and don't perform as well. I just rebuilt one of my twin rad fans and it performs MUCH better than the other one - a LOT more air movement and much quieter. Here's the link:

Yes, a Pantera uses the exact same fan (Lucas) as a 308.
