We are trying to find a condo or house to rent for the Amelia Island Concours weekend, and I am coming up empty on VRBO, Homeaway, etc. I know I know, should have booked sooner....I was just now able to make sure I could be away that weekend. Anyhow, if anyone happens to know of anything that might be available on the island, please let me know. Thanks!

Try looking in St Augustine as it is a lovely 55 minute drive away from Amelia with many more lodging and dining options

Indeed, that is Plan B exactly! I'd really like to stay on the island, it's just so much more convenient. I wouldn't mind doing the drive just for show day, but to drive back and forth 3 days in a row gets a bit tiring.

Anyone ever visit St. Simons Island, GA? I found a few rental houses there that seem nice for a good price. I like the low country/southern coastal vibe in general, but have never been to St. Simons. It looks like its about a 60 mile mostly interstate drive to Amelia Island.

is the whole family coming down? if so, and you need a condo/house, check Atlantic/Neptune/JAX beaches. maybe even Ponte Vedra.

if it's just you, or a group of car guys, who don't need beach access or a lot of space, the JAX airport is very close to Amelia Island, lots of cheap hotels there (Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, etc etc)

Yes, will be me and my wife plus the 4 year old. Grandma graciously agreed to keep the 1 year old. My brother and possibly his GF will be coming as well, so I was trying to find a 2-3 bedroom condo or house.

Realistically how long is the drive from Jax beach area? From looking at Google maps it appears you can't just go straight up A1A without using a ferry. Is that still the best route or better to swing around through Jacksonville?

you could do either, A1A (which is a nice drive) and the ferry or hwy 10 to 295 to 95 (hwy 10, aka Atlantic Blvd, is a major thoroughfare through suburban Jax so it could be tough on Thurs/Fri...but it does run right past Brumos Porsche ;)). I've never timed either but I'd budget an hour or so either way. here's the ferry info: COJ.net - Schedules/Fares

Ponte Vedra or St Augustine I'd budget more like 1.5-2 hrs each way...

If it's the Mayport Ferry it beats the "beltway" by a long shot. Much more interesting, IMO
