Just got a 1999 355 GTB with about 10,000 miles and drilled rotors. Love the car! Brakes work fine but sqeak pretty loudly when I come to a slow stop, like at a stop light or when parking. Doesn't happen when braking harder from faster speeds, just when coming to a slow stop. Kinda annoying. Had it looked at and the pads were slightly glazed so were gently sanded off and cleaned everything but it still occurs. Don't want to be rolling up to an event with these sqealers. Any advice would be appreciated.

Different pads tend to squeak more than others. Track pads will squeak like piglets at every stop. You can try replacing the pads with porterfield R4S (the street pads) or get some anti-squeal at the local autoparts store. Apply a little to the back of each pad.

Or put on some track pads, and when they squeal to wake the dead, just shrug and say "track pads." :)

Many installers are not aware that the pads are directional. There's a plate on the back of the pad that covers all of one puck and 1/2 of the other. If put on backwards, you get the squeal you're talking about. Check it out. I think the 1/2 is the leading puck (?).

+1 use the R4S. No squeal, less dust, and better initial bite when you apply the brakes. Best change I made.

Best pads for the street IMHO.

I had the Axxis Deluxe Plus on my BMW 540 M-Sport. Very good pad, and EXTREMELY low dusting. But I think the Porterfield R4S is slightly higher friction. Prefer the R4S on the Ferrari, and while I have R4S now on the BMW, I may go back to the Axxis Deluxe Plus, as I hate cleaning the multispoke wheels on my 540! ;)

    I use Porterfield R4, not R4S,

Very rotor friendly, great track preformance, some dust, not really very bad at all even after a track day.

Moderate squeal occasionally coming to a slow stop, strangely enough the squealing is not consistent, sometimes it does, other times it doesn’t, mostly it doesn’t.
