I need to reinstall the clutch helper spring and can not get it to compress enough to set it into the perch. I have searched the archives and can not find a procedure. I'm sure many of you have done this and I would appreciate any guidance you could provide.

    Thanks,

    Alex

I have found that you can insert the spring into the two holes in the roller pivot, and then use your body weight to push down on the spring from the top of the engine compartment, and hook it under the upper perch.
If you are not able to do this, the other option is to clamp the two pins of the spring in a vise, wind the spring around with a large screwdriver (with someone else's help) and then secure the spring in this position with two pieces of mechanics wire. After you get the spring installed, you cut the wires.

    Thanks Brian,

Option one worked well. After removing the air box and everything else that was in the way, I pushed on the spring to get it over center and it popped into place. After re-adjusting the clutch cable and linkage, the pedal feels perfect. I appreciate the assistance.
