Crack down on that roadway...as well as 684..and 287....spoke to a gentleman I know in a State agency and said it was all Joe's fault...they cite some banana driving a Yellow blurr at silly rates of speed...LOL
Glad your feeling better Mr. Joe...Hey Matt time to change the NYMC routes!!

handling on an evo is unbelievable. For anyone who hasn't tried, its like crack for us car nuts. You should have seen the smile on bryan's face when we were drifting through the snow last winter.

not exactly hiding, but sitting there on the shoulder with parking lights on, in some cases they were in groups of 4 or 5 cars.

From my what I have heard, the cops are on real high alert for some cell from Afganistan. Wish I was kidding, but I am not. NYC Routinely takes over a road or block or two with this task force that travels in a pack of about 2 dozen cars and a boat load of Officers. If the cars didn't say "Highway Patrol", then it was probably a show of force by that task force.....

Two weeks ago on Rt 80 I saw four unmarked police cars sitting on the shoulder of the road (chase cars). about 1/2 mile up the road near an exit was the cop with radar. They are getting WAY too serious.

I was up Port Jervis area this weekend. Not a cop in sight and the roads are glorious. Unfortunately, the deer keep you from really enjoying the drives...unless you REALLY like Venison.

Interesting...Last week, while driving on the Grand Central to NYC, I saw a convoy of about a dozen or so marked and unmarked cars/SUV's with lights on. I'm used to seeing police convoys all the time, escorting dignitary's, people of interest, etc. (usually on the way to JFK or LGA), but this one seemed way different. Me and my buddy were trying to figure out what the heck was going on, as it just seemed very unusual...Now that you mentioned the 'high alert status', it kinda makes sense...

Clyde, next time you are up in Port Jervis, be sure to check out Hawk's Nest, a pretty cool (but short) drive along the side of mountain - twisties all the way through - BMW filmed an ad there years ago showcasing the car's handling and braking characteristics.

My office is down by the Trade Center site, and the cars come through all the time, one of my officemates asked what for, and the caravan that does drive through according to a cop is to practice for drills in case of an emergency, make the public feel safer, and to patrol the city streets in case something is going down all at once.

Although I pointed out to him that if I saw a whole ton of cop cars coming down with sirens blarring stopping traffic, I doubt I'd feel safer... :p

Friday on Rt 208 I saw two local cop cars, a prisoner van, followed by two other local cop cars. I wondered:
    1) How much OT is involved in this little prisoner transport?
    2) Exactly what did that fellow peering out of the internal cage really do?
    3) Why do they need 4 cop cars for one prisoner?
    4) Why are 4 cop cars required when the Van cage could probably hold a raging, steroid enhanced, PCP whacked Silverback great ape secure.

Needless, I didn't feel too secure and made sure I quickly passed the motocade.
