Rear end too busy. Purity of line is sacrificed to surface details. Trunk lines too Lexus like. INVHO All opinions subject to change when I see it in person in a color other than red.
Amazing what an effect that simple measure has! I'm starting to believe this car might finally look good...
I clicked the Top Gear link and they also had a yellow DBS on the page, I'm seeing a lot of similarites between the California and the DBS. Thats a good thing in my eyes.
Thats what happens when you type fast at work while talking to someone. I like the exhaust in the rear bumper. Dont like what he did to the door.
I personally think that all lot of the designs offered by Fchat readers are not an improvement over the factory. I even think the vertical pipes are a better choice than the more conventional horizontal layout. This is not meant as a slight to those who have been having some fun redesigning the California!
It would be awesome if someone could PS the following: Bianco Fuji/black w/ CF side-vent Grigio Silverstone/ Bordeaux w/ CF side-vent Nero Met./ Cuoio w/ CF side-vent and some type of Challenge grill. Thanks, Joe
To air out the trunk when I take the dead hookers out? Great point. Shows how used to spiders being mid/rear. My apologies. Anyway, back to the hopeful PSing please!
Re: Top Gear...It certainly does look better in yellow and at this angle: http://www.topgear.com/content/magflash/0708/
It certainly does, and that's not a bad thing IMO. I've heard pictures don't do the Mazer's headlights justice; in person you can see the interesting shape, as they seems to wrap around the car at a unique angle. Similarly, the California's headlights look more maserati-like in this pic, a bit bigger, more interesting, and thankfully no longer like the MR-2. I just noticed the Vanquish-like creases on the hood that accentuate the lights. You also get a sense of just how protruding the front dam is. These dramatic angles often get lost in pics. I'm not impressed with Ferrari's recent styling excursions, but I'll give them credit for being interesting. Can't wait to see it in person.
New official images- http://www.autoblog.it/post/14019/ferrari-california-lattesa-e-finita ...and the (1st) countdown is over on the California's site- http://www.ferraricalifornia.com/webapp/
Porsche is probably the only company that offers 8 different versions of the a car. And they are very successful at selling all of them. Ferrari needs to be given a lot of credit for creating new models. It would be a lot easier for them to continue selling us the 2008 version of the 308!
Right.Porsche is like the same face, but with different mimic, from year to year. Lambo's are not Audi's?R8 is not a Gallardo?
Wow what a let down!!! I haven't really been following the press release and the last photo's I saw were the "station wagon" spy photos months ago, I was really expecting something special, a tribute to the gorgeous designs of the past. But this truly does not do the mark justice! Really feels very cookie cutter, like they didn't know what to do or what direction to take! Its cool, simply because it is the new Ferrari but seriously a major failure and sore thumb if you ask me. What were they thinking with that rear end?? The tail pipes look stupid, there is no other way to put it! Well looks like they just ensured Pre-Sale of all of the 8c spiders! Interestingly it seems like the high end touring roadster market is open and up for grabs right now. The "new" SL is a total flop and very UGLY. The Aston (both db9 and db7) are old and redundant. The 8c is too limited of a production to make a difference. The Maserati is not seeing very strong sales in the US. Who will steel the market??
Well, the F430 is sort of a continuation of the 308i, which inherited its spirit from the Dino 206GT. Ferrari design (or shall we say Pininfarina) far outclass Porsche design.
I like this a whole lot. I don't care for the real one and I don't think it'll grow on me because the 599 never did.

I think it will also look great in silver (Argento Nurburgring...which hard to photoshop well) with a cuoio or red interior.
