Here's the Deal

I put my 01 Range Rover on Ebay back in August. Guy hits the Buy it Now button. Sends me the deposit the next day for 1k, 6 days later i receive the balance in a Bank Check.

Everything has cleared my account..............I haven't heard from the guy to this day. He sent me an email saying sorry for the delay and if I could arrange shipping for him. I told him to call Dependable Auto Shippers..................................

It's now been 4 months.................any thoughts?? Is there anything fishy here?

Wait, you have the car AND the cash? I'd say, no problem. I think I'd be emailing him once a week though.

 

Sounds like he might have more money then time.

Why don't you tell him for $3k you'll get it shipped and use one of the good carriers? Just have him sign something saying you are not responsible.


If you've had the money for 3 months I don't see how he could be scamming you. Usually in a scam they want to get the car fast before you find out you've been had.

 

You have the money and you're acting in good faith. Keep his car safe, send him regular reminders. Part of the reminder might be "your car is sitting here rotting from disuse. It was in good condition 4 months ago, but if you let it sit here much longer it's going to be a rusty pile of junk.'

Your other option is to do as he asked, arrange shipping and give him a price that includes fair compensation for your time and trouble. Apparently he can write checks with no problem, let him write another one and make a fair return for providing him the service of arranging shipping. When his shipping check clears send the car.

 

If the money cleared, then he just is really busy.

 

Id say close out the bank acct and cancel ur ebay acct then relist!

 

i would send a couple more emails, if no reply,send him the money back but subtract a percentage for storeage.

Doody's posting is of course a total joke. I am the one who REALLY bought your Range Rover. But unfortunately, I have fallen upon hard times and can no longer pay for shipping. Therefore, please send me a refund check for the full amount. I will PM with my mailing address. Maybe eBay could help without disclosing privacy issues, somehow......weird!!!!

He DOES owe you additional monies now, for storage of HIS car! I took a few weeks to pick up my first Ferrari after paying, but I was in constant contact with the dealer about it....

Now THAT's "too busy"!!!!!

 

The rumors of my death have been greatly exagerrated.

I have, indeed, been very busy.

I will collect my Range Rover shortly, and will pursue legal action against the imposters listed above who are attempting to steal my vehicle.

 

DAMNIT......I want to sell something to a dead person!!!!

 

He's dead.. there's no way anyone would find the time to send a bank check for over 20k~ and not follow up on it.

However, in the confusion of an unattached person dying it'd be highly unlikely that parents/siblings/relatives would spend the time tracking the cash down or even have the means to do so. Has he made any other Ebay purchases recently?

Give it another two months then donate the RR to charity.. Don't tempt kharma and try to sell it again.
