Just wondering where you are from?? How did you become a Huskerfan?? You post on any Husker site?? Looking to purchase my first 308 this winter/spring. You might be a good resource for me in the next few months. My bio... Have a 911 now (is my second 911) and am looking for something more exotic. Since I am married, a fling with an exotic dancer ain't happening so I will have to settle for a car!!! ;-) Was also looking at Esprits because the performance is there and the look IS exotic, but it still isn't a Ferrari and I would regret it the entire time. This would be our 4th car so I don't need a daily driver (i.e. mileage will be low) although, as I do with the 911, I would start her up and drive her on NICE winter days, just to keep it wet. My dad's buddy owns an Enzo, an F40, and an F50 and I am going down in the spring to check them out, but that is like comparing apples and oranges. So back to those Huskers. Just how big of a fan are you?? Big, as in you will be in San Antonio in January this year?? (if you truly have the Husker sickness, you should know what I am talking about). Thanks!!!
Bill... I've been a Husker fan since I was a kid. My wife and I started going to games in 1990. Watched them win it all at the Orange and Fiesta, and watched Miami cream us at the Rose a couple of years ago. We try to make several home games a year, but this year we could only make one. We also watched the debacle in Lubbock (ouch!). Their recruiting class is ranked #1 right now so I am VERY hopeful. I am in withdrawals because no bowl game. I will help you on finding a Ferrari if you want. I used to own a 308, sold it, bought a 348ts. The 348ts is the best F-car for the money in my opinion. If you want to talk shop (or Huskers), call me anytime before 10:30pm CST at my home at (806) 356-8442. Take care.
Husker, ya just put your home phone on the INTERNET! Whaddaya NUTS???? Them 'good ol' biguns' are ALL gonna find ya now!!!!!! LOL! Maybe some of the 'big ol' goodin's', as well.............. Happy New Year !.
Nice. Yeah, I usually make it down to Lincoln for a game once a year, although this year, my dad and I didn't since I wanted to be able to watch the instant replay after each play since they were running their new offense. I will be going down for a game next year for SURE though. Maybe Pitt. He used to play for NU which is why I am a huge fan. Yeah, I know all about the recruiting class. I really hope Beck is able to pick things up quickly. I think Zac (JUCO kid who is signed) will be the man next year though. Dailey was HORRIBLE. That sure was a debacle in Lubbock. Ouch. Although they wouldn't have even scored 40 if Callahan would have run the ball more (i.e. used the same game plan he used against OU). Oh well. They will be GREAT again soon. The foundation is being laid. This class will probably finish #1 when they pick up a few more solid recruits. They will get 3 more studs and 3 more solid players and should finish #1 when it is said and done. With that being said, I am ecstatic about two of the lineman (Roark and Picou). Best thing I like about this staff is that the best kids are playing, period. No politics. Okay, about the 308, nice to see you started there too. You probably will be able to answer a BUNCH of questions for me down the road. I have been coming to this site for months now but this was my first post. Been wondering who you were for awhile. Saw a 348 on ebay that made me absolutely DROOL last week. Black with black wheels. Nice. But a little pricey still right now. I have to sell my 911 first and then start looking. Shouldn't be a problem on either!!! I do like the 348. I think it is WAY undervalued. I like them way more then the 355. Although my favorite "dream car" is the TR. Someday I will own one. And then I can die with a smile on my face!!! First the 308 for two years or so. Then the TR. That is the plan. Although my wife has given me the green light to "buy whatever you want". I said I was only looking at 308s because it is all I can afford right now. She said, "You could AFFORD a TR too if you really made it a priority." I said, "Yeah but I wouldn't be able to eat Tuesdays-Wednesday!!!" I COULD afford a TR right now if I REALLY had to have one, but I am the practical one in the family (crazy enough to buy a Ferrari, practical enough to START with a 308, though). Oh well. She has yet to hear about my plans for the "Ferrari stall" in the garage I will be putting in when I get that 308. I already have the banners, flags, and flooring picked out!!!
By the way, I will take you up on that offer to call sometime to talk shop!!! You asked for it!!! ;-) Bill
THAT was classic!! But to, answer the previous poster's question.... A Cornhusker is the mascot of the University of Nebraska. When corn grows it forms a husk (the wrapping around the corn and also the stem). By "husking" the corn, you are removing the "husk". There is a lot of corn in Nebraska and a lot of people who used to husk that corn. "Cornhuskers" is the TRUE name of the team, but it is easier to say "Huskers" and the university has been promoting the "Huskers" name over "Cornhuskers" since the mid-1990's. Hence the name "Huskers".
Huskerbill, you won't find anyone better than Collin (Huskerntexas) , to coach you to your purchase of a Ferrari. I bought a 348 a few months ago with his help. I too was/am a 308 owner first. Then a 348. Listen to Collin's advice, as he has lots of info. on these cars. Good luck, John
Rivee, Thanks for the info. Seems like a good guy. And he has followed (as you did) the same path I would like to with the F-cars. 348, I tell ya, Husker football is a sickness. A true sickness. If I spent as much time on work and investments as I do Husker football every day, I would be looking for an Enzo to purchase rather than a 308. In a sick twist though, I wouldn't give up that "Husker time spent" for that Enzo!!
Aww shucks John...thanks. By the way...can you email me some photos and details of your car? Not sure I ever got to see it! [email protected]
Bill...you are so right about Husker football. It's an addiction. I go to Huskerpedia.com often to read the latest scoop. I hope Callahan's our guy. Maybe next season we can meet up in Lincoln at one of the games. My dad always comes with me. He's a Husker convert I guess you would say. His heart still loves the Longhorns (yuck!!) but I tell you, he loves the Huskers. We normally hang out at "Old Chicago" or Buzzard Billy's 5-6 hours before the game. We try some of those crazy beers at Old Chicago and then mozy on over to memorial.
I love the Huskers! Especially since they were so kind enough to allow us to win a national championship in 1993 in the Orange Bowl..Thought that was awfully nice of them...since they have quite a few themselves...My old roomate in college is the kicker for the Oakland Raiders, was the 17th pick in the draft...Guess you all know where I went and where my loyalty lies. No sneaker jokes...
HuskerNTexas, Yeah, since my dad and I go down to games too, maybe we can hook up for a game this next season. I go to HuskersIllustrated for my info. We just got a commit from a big DT from Compton Community College last night by the way. 300lb kid and a stud. Thought I would let you know. tmobileguy, So you were Janikowski's roommate huh? Nice. Heard he was pretty wild back in the day. Bet you have some stories!! ;-) Yeah, if our kicker could kick the broad side of a barn, we would have won that Orange Bowl. Oh well. We got our fair share later in the decade.
Yeah, like the next year, and the next, and another 2 years later! Wow, that 94 Orange Bowl comeback was thrilling! Too bad I was so sick during the game I couldn't wait for it to be over. I took in some ocean water accidentally that a.m. while swimming. By the time we got to the game, I was feeling awful terrible.
Yuck. By the way, that was your 666th post. Might want to delete that one!!! Damn you Byron Bennett. It sure would have been nice to have him make that field goal. Especially since Bowden had already been doused with the Gatorade. To see him there wiping it out of his eyes with an "Oh $&^" look in his eye when he realized it was not over was classic. THAT would have been an all-time classic game had we won after he got the dousing.
