Even with my OCD, I’ve never noticed this before.. in my F8, the carpeted section behind the seat that the nets are attached to… is all wavy and like misshapen. I can push on the ‘bubble’ parts and they go in and pop back out etc… like not uniform — just wavy and non symmetric— anyone else notice this? Normal? I’m crazy? Mine is a kit car? Lemme know pls. Thanks geniuses.

That's a baked in payback for chintzing out and not getting the optional leather back there. So next time you get a Ferrari you'll remember.

I’m not high class, affluent, important enough to be able to spec my own new one bud… bought all 3 used between 41k and 62k over MSRP. It would’ve been nice though and yes, I would’ve gotten leather back there and some other places as well.

But back to the actual weirdness, it’s like so deformed. Just wondering if others are like this or not.

Once the allure of owning a Ferrari wears off a little bit and you start to study the car at all you will realize how crappy the build quality is. What you have noticed is what I call situation normal from everything I have seen.

Yes, this is my 19th year of ownership. This is my third one. The F430’s were great build quality in my opinion and other than the wire ties holding in the rear wheel well liners and this wavy, uneven firewall ‘covering’, this F8 is also pretty well built in my opinion.

I just checked my carpet and it appears that it does not have your issue.

Just checked mine. Mine isn’t wavy or anything like what you’re describing. All I can think of is the cheap adhesive they use might be degrading. I was told by a service advisor that the sticky buttons and leather/fabric delamination a result of products made from EU mandated biodegradable sources instead of petroleum based and hence why they have issues. Don’t know that to be true, just was I told.

Oh wow, I'm surprised to hear this actually! I thought for sure it was normal... I'll bring it in to Ferrari and hope they replace under warranty. Thanks guys... hmmmm It's not the 'carpet' by the way, its whatever its attached to-- some sort of cardboard backing that moves a good 3 inches back n forth in areas. I assumed it was shaped so randomly like this because there are electronics behind there and I thought they made it with different bumps in different areas to go around each electrical box or whatever... thanks again.

Who has good build quality in your opinion- and please don’t mention Porsche.

The build quality is pretty consistent with all the major brands in my experience especially as it comes to interior materials. Unless you get carbon there’s cheap plastic everywhere and the feel of the buttons tends to feel cheap. All of these companies are mostly concerned with maximizing profitability and not placating the car enthusiast community. Ferrari perhaps the most notorious for this especially since they went public. I’ve had plenty of seat time in modern Lambo’s and Porsches, not McLaren’s, and I couldn’t tell any difference in build quality.

In my opinion currently there are no cars being built with great build quality, short of Rolls-Royce. Hard to find laborers who have pride in their work anymore. Even Porsche isn’t what it used to be.
But the problem isn’t just with the assemblers. It extends all the way down the supply chain.

I know no one wants to hear it but, as someone who isn’t easily impressed, my new Porsche is incredible with build quality and fit and fitment… like insane how perfect it is… in fact, it’s really the only thing that impresses me about the car. I like it a lot but none of the things we all consider in a car amaze me EXCEPT the build quality.

I would analogize this to the quality issues in new home construction, which I have noticed for many years. A large, expensive home may often have the same indifferent quality as a less-expensive, smaller one. You just get more quantity, but not necessarily more quality. The profit motive surpasses the desire to turn out a high-quality product. Fred

Well, my Porsche was far from perfect, service was equal $$ to my Ferrari, and some other poor bastard owns it now [emoji41]

My 2019 GT3 RS had to have the PDK replaced only two weeks into ownership. It was also towed twice because the first time they replaced the valve body and that didn't fix it. In all fairness they waived a $600 bill for some extras I had added and gave me an additional two years of full factory warranty for a total of six years. I also never had a problem with it again. All in all not so bad.

My GT4 was also perfect in its build quality. Fit and fitment are exactly like you said. No squeaks, rattles or anything loose.

I got this message on Sunday… I think my car thought Eric was with me. Was kinda funny though cos I was driving slowly through Wilton Manors when it happened [emoji28]

*on a serious note though… anyone know what this meant? Was it remaining gas related or a temperature thing? I was somewhat low on gas (no light yet) and it was also 95-100 degrees… and I was ‘cruising’ slow and stopping here and there with engine running.

I've seen threads on this in the past, I believe its just related to low gas. Pump it up baby

Soon after that message, another popped up saying ‘heyyyyyyyyy fella’. I assume this meant I was able to cruise again.
