    Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to say hello. Ive been lurking for awhile. Registered a few days ago. Hoping to become an owner in awhile - no rush though.

I live in Toronto, am a Research Analyst, currently drive a too much fun S2000 but have always dreamed of F-cars. Daily. Nightly. All the time actually.

    So Hello.

    MayB1Day.

    Thanks.

    Probably a 355 or maybe a 348.

Will need time to figure out which one suits me best. If I am patient enough, I may be able to swing a 360, but I dont like using "be able to swing" and "Ferrari" in the same sentence. Ive heard if you cant afford to buy two identical Ferrari's, you cant afford to buy one; I definately will not be able to afford two 360s anytime soon, very unfortunately. :D

Fun and reliability will be my highest priorities (as they are now, hence the S2000). I figure it will take me 12 months to learn enough about them to find the specific car that was made for me - will see where it goes. I am looking forward to the process very much.

First thing we need to do is change your username from "maybe 1 day " to
"1daysoon". The search is the hard / fun part. It's gravy after that.
You'll wonder why you kept putting it off....
    Good Luck!!

I have one, too. Is my first one and I am delighted. Thought I wanted a 308/328 until I drove a 348 and I was hooked on the sound (Tubi on the first one I drove) and the power.

Good deals out there on 348's as well!!

Welcome and good luck in your search - I joined F-chat in Feb '04 just dreaming and was driving my 348 spider in SoCal by mid-June.... just to warn you!!

    Cheers
    Kevin

MB1D....Welcome aboard! FChat ois a fun place. It's my daily newspaper (that I read for about 6 hours!). Sell your S2000 and buy a nice 308. I found mine, a straight '77 uncorked Euro with great paint for $15.5K (I put another $15 into it) and it's a great car! There are some deals out there is you look hard enough!

Same here - Don't stick it in the garage over winter! Drive it, it's the best thing you can do for it! :)

Yep- go for a 355. Its a great car, and with all the money you save by not buying a 360, you will have a fighting fund to maintain it! (half-joking!)

    Welcome to Fchat

    Thanks everyone.

Foxy, seriously, the winter? I am a major fan of driving cars 12 months a year, but not Ferrari's (or NSXs). Anything else, you betcha! That would be the only reason Id consider a Porsche Turbo actually, Id be able to enjoy it much more of the year (from the drivers seat anyways).

Who drives their F-cars through Canadian winters? Anyone? Hello? Anyone? Ive never seen them in the slush here, and there are tons of them around in the summer.

Never having driven either a 355 or a 348, I suspect that my choosing a 348 over a 355 would largely be based upon the price difference. My S2000 is *about* high enough performance for what I need. I do not need a blistering fast car. I want a fun car that is fast and reliable. For that, you simply cannot beat S2000s for the dough. Problem is that I am now wanting a *special*, fun and reliable car. S2000s are special in their own way, if you've not driven one, I highly suggest you do; it is remarkable that such a car exists today for the price its at. I suspect that it is not THAT much behind a 348 performance wise and probably equally fun, if not more fun because after all you dont have some of the worries you do with F-cars (parking it in public lots, etc...). But the time is nearing for me to move on I think.

Whatever I get WILL be a daily driver for most of the year. It is a departure of policy for me to store a car for the winter, but I'll make an exception, just this once ;)

I forgot to say that the car will be auto-xed and will see the occasional track day. If it could be registered in Ontario, I suspect that a Challenge car would be a riot to boot around in every day.

Erm...Good point. I'm from the UK, so it's generally fine to drive it about in the winter - just gotta make sure you dry those door seals off properly! :)

Im fully committed to the process, that's forsure. Fully committed to buying a F-car? Not yet. I need to find the right car first. Not only right model, but specifically the right car. Ill start with figuring out which model works best for me, then I will go looking for the right car.

It is a 12-months from now event for me I think. Im not rushing into anything.
