And no, I didn't get the number. But I'm sure that you already know this car. Here's a hint -- you saw it at the FFQC. Dale Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
IIRC they did come from the factory in black....there's production numbers floating around here somewhere. Saw one from IL in black also on a Ferrari rally a few years ago.
I believe only four came black from the factory. What would really set that car on fire is some euro signals.
For those who don't know this is the infamous F50k, called such because of the unusually high mileage(thank God!). This specific F50 is Nero straight from the factory, has been in this area for both of it's owners, was involved in a very scary accident and was thankfully rebuilt. Oh, I forget who said it in Forza, but a writer called it the 'rattiest' F50 in the world, to which the first owner wrote in and described that he, unlike some, actually drove the car to work nearly everyday, didn't have time or much of a care about meticulously keeping it looking 100%, but mechanically made sure it was perfect. He was right and the writer came out looking rather silly. Also, Richard Thompson(Richard) drove the car a few months back, still running strong and no signs of stopping!
Mr. Suarez is 100% correct. I lived across the street from the original owner...while he owned it, I would see that car EVERYWHERE. He drove it rain or shine, in the heat of summer, or in the middle of winter...it was truly his daily driver. It was always a treat to see it shoe-horned between two SUVs at the neighborhood grocery store. As for it being ratty, it never looked any worse than the average daily driven sportscar as far as bugs and the occasional chips were concerned. I think the author, as were some purists, were simply appalled that he had the ballz to drive the car everyday and not keep it showroom. IIRC, the car would get used regularly & then at the end of the year get treated to a resto/repaint... John, I remember hearing about the accident...something about I-10 or was it River Road??? Can you shed some light/details? Thanks Cajun
Red, dark red, yellow, black, and silver were all factory colors for the F50. There might be a few more I don't know off the top of my head. Maybe that Pozzi blue F50 in the Swiss picture came from the factory like that.
I had the priveledge of having an internship some years back under the original owner when he had the car, I'll tell you what, that front bumper was speckled white from all the use it got! The accident was by the Superdome but I don't want to go into much more detail because I do not know how much should be said in a public forum out of respect for the individuals involved. The car was out of commission for quite some time but is no doubt in perfect shape these days.

It's funny. Of the supercars, I like the F40 best of all. But I like the F50 a lot more than the Enzo. I wonder what this says about the F60? Dale
youve (depending on how old you are) grown up with the F40 and F50....the Enzo is a new kid on the block and doesnt hold much history with you I recall my first ever model car was an F40 at the 1990 Melbourne Motorshow as a 5 year old...and to this day the car doesnt fail to leave me speechless on the other hand, for all its wonderment, the Bugatti Veyron does very little for me
Wes, are you bringing it back this year? IIRC that was actually a different car...not this black one...
Not sure exactly what you mean by different car. You saying a different car was wrecked? Or that the F50 was wrecked, but replaced with a new one? A friend of mine actually had pics of the F50 after the accident and I know a couple friends of the individual who was driving at the time. Holler at me Rich!
Wow, great pics, its awesome to catch a car like that out in the 'wild'... Does anyone know roughly how many miles that F50 currently has? Is it possible its the highest mileage privately owned F50 out there?
Last time I saw it was a little over the 50,000 mile mark. I think probably around 52,000 now. It is almost certainly the highest mileage F50 in the world, and runs like a champ. Unbelievable reliability (IMHO) from a car running a modified F1 engine!
