Here was my complete report to the SRX7 guys, so kinda from that perspective...

13 SRX7's, so decent turnout.

Friday

Had a great weekend. I haven't really concentrated on the SRX7 much being preoccupied with the 8. Car ran well. Didn't make mistakes. Friday lost touch with Donato playing with Donny. Saturday lost touch with Donato and Tony playing Donny. So sad I couldn't give Donato more competition, but Donny and I had great racing.

Donny, didn't get to talk Saturday, but sorry for the hit. I'm amazed we made it that far without contact considering the two ITA cars. You went a little wide, I was inside you, box ITA car inside me, and I hit you mid-corner for the spin. I take responsibility for the hit. You were driving very well.

Had the RX8 delivered 4pm Saturday. Threw on the slicks and only front race pads. This morning took through tech. No major issues. Barely got the minimum decals on before qualifying. Didn't have time to adjust the seat belts or check tire pressures. I did about 10 laps and car felt really good. It is 100% stock right now besides the safety stuff, Hoosier, and front race pads. I couldn't hear my own engine, but could hear the race cars on the far side of the track.

Car handled really good, I could take 1-2 pretty fast, just had to go really slow in corners and car was leaning over. Fun to spectate the GT1 and T1 cars from out on the race course next to them vs. the stands. I'm really a race fan first and driver second.

Actually did qualify ahead of a couple cars in the group. I was 7th of 7 T2's as expected, but I was the only T3 car in T2, only mostly stock car, and first day ever. I know, excuses excuses, but I am a little competitive. 5th and 6th in T2 were only 1-2 seconds off.

Before the race start I was still hearing Donato "Now take it easy your first day, I had a friend that wrecked his brand new motorcycle on the first day!" After the race start I had forgot about Donato, took a few holes (how can you turn them down?), and threw the first 3 laps of many others making "Regional" mistakes I was picking through fields of smoke and cars pointing at me. 27 cars started and there were 5+ different cars that had spins first 3 laps. Double yellow and then went back racing. Was going fine and had two T2 cars right in front. Coming out of 3 I went to the gas and there was nothing. Car didn't stall, but wouldn't take gas. Didn't want to mess up anyone else, so just parked at station 4. Got out and had a great first hand look at the racing and the great job/concentration of the corner workers. Makes me appreciate their job that much more. End of race car started right up and ran fine except for now throwing a check engine light. Drove out easy access past Gary at 5.

Car back with Shannon to finish up the race stuff and will race the TWS R/N in 3 weeks. I think the 2.9, so that will be fun.

Rob,

FWIW, Greddy makes a plate that directs air from the airdam directly into the radiator. I am not sure it's track legal but it helps feed air right into the radiator like an air ram. Some of the 8 drivers claim a 10-20 degree drop in temps.
