I'm sure this is another section as well, but I had to post it... http://www.autoblog.com/2006/06/14/for-sale-2006-ferrari-fxx-slightly-used/ Go on, I know you want to
Try neville, although i think he's lost his mind over the Veyron.... which by the way an FXX wouldn't even get close enough to see.....
LOL, an FXX would lap a Veyron within a half a dozen laps on a track. 1000hp approx 2200kg Veyron 850hp approx 1250kg FXX Hmm, I wonder which would be quicker in a straight line......... To be fair one is a track special, the other is a grossly overweight street car.
....i don't think Nev is concerned about what the FXX could do on a track. Can the FXX do a 9 second quarter mile or 400klm/hr? oh, and at 4mill, you could by 2 veyrons........
400kmh, probably, if you messed with the aero. 9sec 1/4 mile, who exaxctly cares? A skyline/supra can do 7's for 1/10th of the cost. No disprespect intended, but aside from accelerating quickly, what is it's purpose? You made the comment about (effectively) the Veyron being so quick an FXX wouldn't see which way it went. I'm just pointing out that that the FXX has a vastly superior power to weight ratio. I'm not here to argue the value proposition of the FXX, but they are/were much less than $4M, which includes professional training, track days, logistics etc. With the FXX you get much more than just a car.
The two are chalk and cheese. For $4million why not just buy an F1 car(or two). Much faster than either, greater thrill and after you're done you've got a great wall decoration.
I heard that any FXX sold wont get any factory support or be allowed to race/test in any of the events/meets organised.
No direspect to the FXX either...... the Veyron was built to go fast on open highways and high speed sweepers etc etc....... the FXX to go around corners at the track. Like Istanl said.... chalk and cheese.
Steve, the Bug is one ugly looking car as is the FXX but I think the Bug goes from 0-ugh in a quicker time and there is no comparison between the two, the FXX would leave the Bug for dead as Stephens said I still think the Bug is a great achievement by VW though
Imagine the fuel that big mother would chew. Impressive engineering though. They are baby turbos on it. They would spool up really quick, lots of power straight up, hence the 9sec 1/4mile times.
and is it just me, or does all those passages and conduits on it sort of remind you of an over-roided body builder? looks like it's gonna pop a vein any second now...
Neville I think you are lucky enough to be one of the few people in Australia that could actually use the car as intended.
A$2.5m (excluding taxes) will get you a Veyron. But I agree Istanl, why bother? In fact, a more sensible alternative to an old F1 car would surely be a 333SP, a car designed and built for customer use?
24hr 7 day monitoring of the cars systems via Satellite. If it has a need they will tell you and fix. If it has a big need they will fly the car back to Europe for the first two years. I saw these being made. Nothing and I mean nothing is built with this kind of precision nor quality of components. Titanium bolts are so light you would think they hollow. Even the motor has a rear bracket of paint carbon fibre to save weight I wasn't allowed to photograph customer cars but I can tell you the car is worth the money. Just see the smile I wear after being it!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Will they fly my Golf back to Europe too? F**king thing has had every second electrical sender replaced and still isn't right. And tell them that the flat-top that they send whenever my neighbour's Conti won't start needs a new muffler.
Nev, will you get rid of the LP640 if/when you get a Veyron? why do you need to "image" the smile when there is a bloody picture of him smiling?
