I decided to Bring Rigby to San Jose this Saturday and would like to board her overnight. I don't want to just throw her in a plain old kennel, as I want a really clean place where the people pay a lot of attention to their pets (walks, play time, etc.).

Time is tight, so ASAP replies would be VERY appreciated!

    Thnx, Pete

How big a dog is she? I may know a good place in San Francisco (that is on the way, right?).

Use Spots, near the airport. We've put our dog, Casey-Puppy-Love multiple times. It's great and not your average kennel

I used to volunteer to walk dogs for Pets in Need in Redwood City. It was not exactly a spa, but unlike other shelters they did not "recycle" the animals. While on a walk,....the right "dog loan" considerably enlarged my dating pool...Female test subjects were essentially overcome with my charity, obviously overlooking my appearance.

Here is an end of the week clip relating to dogs, work safe, although it might shock some more sensitive dog lovers (You have been warned):

I would if I was in town. But I will be up in your neck of the woods practicing my redneck skills with Beer, Trucks and Guns at a friends ranch.

    Sorry.

I know of one in Los Gatos that my CFO uses for her dog...want me to get that info?

Yes please..Where are you going to be this wekend? If near Sonora, go up Italian Bar Road in Columbia. Drive until it turns into a dirt road and go down the canyon (BEYOND BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!), past the river and up the mountain road about two miles. PLEANTY of places to shoot up there. Stay on that road for about 18 miles and it will take you through some cool country and you will pop out in Twain Harte where you can hit the Eproson House for dinner or go to the Black Oak Casino, eat there and play the OPEN THE VAULT penny machine. Start with $100-$200, play $2 a pop and quit when you are $400-$500 ahead (1-2 hours).

I called them and it's a crap shoot. The place looks pretty cool and the guy I spoke with was extremely helpful.....but...They have times to 'interview' you and your dog during the day and because it's an 'Open' environment (All the dogs run around together, separated by medium and large), if your pet does not 'play well with others' (Kinda like FChat :) ), they will not allow you to leave your pet. I either have to board RIgby before I leave or take a chance.

I have no experience with kenneling a dog (usually drop her off with a relative), but I did notice one in Petsmart in San Jose when I was last there. They call it their Pet Hotel and it's looks pretty nice. It looks very clean, neat, and had some good amenities. The Petsmart is on Coleman, which is about in the middle San Jose.

These aren't pictures of the exact place, but they look exactly the same.

This probably won't be helpful to you, but on the off chance that others in the Bay area are looking for an amazing kennel and read this thread, Camp K9 in Corte Medera (Marin county, just north of Sausalito) is absolutely amazing. By far one of the best kennels/dog boarding I've ever used for my two Dobermans across the country.

Probably not worth the trip from San Jose, but anyone in East or North bay need boarding. Just tell ‘em Titan & Spartys dad sent them your way.

We use, "Critter Sitters," here locally.
They take care of everything, when we do not take animals with us.

However my cat has it down.
He just takes the couch, the remote and asks me to get him a beer.
He hasn't found the guns yet.

I also heard that the Atlanta Falcon's and Mr. Vick were providing services as well.
A few funnies to lighten the day.

    Back to the trading desk.

Because of the risk of maybe not being able to leave Rigby at SPOTS San Jose, I went to a local place today. Hung out about 45 minutes and talked with them. Cool place, very clean with a pet grooming portion in their building. Rigby seemed to like it, so she gets dropped off late tomorrow AM. They had three packages. I went for the top one at $21 that included two 10 minute walks and two 15 minute play times. I paid for two additional walks, two extra play times and a bath with grooming. Came to $60 with tip (For the girl that walks the dogs).

Thanks for the replies, as I was getting stressed out about this one!

Based on price comparison with some of the services I've used, I would say your Rigby should be in great hands. Rigby probably won't want to come home after!! Rest easy and enjoy the trip.
