My name is Charles. One of my life long dreams is to own a Ferrari (an F40 or Testarossa would be my top choices since I grew up in the 80s). But being a 24 year old grad student from a middle class family, it's kinda hard to afford one. Obviously, I don't have the money yet, but maybe after 2-3 of decades of hard work, it will become a reality.

Not only have I never owned a Ferrari, I have never even been in one. A friend's new Maserati is the closest thing I have been in comparable to a Ferrari.

Anyone want to give me my first ride in one? I am in College Station, TX, and would be willing to drive to Houston, Waco, or Austin for it.

I know I probably sound pathetic for asking and I doubt anyone would take a stranger in their car, but thanks to anyone that says yes.

    Welcome!

Not sure how a 24-year old grew up in the '80s, but obviously you matured earlier than I did...

Maybe post in the Texas section and go to one of their gatherings. I'm sure someone will oblige.

Well, I grew up in both the 80s and 90s...I was born in 1982. I was only alive for just over 7 years in the 80s, but I do remember them vividly.

    Welcome.
Plenty of Ferraris in central Texas. I'm sure you'll enjoy getting a ride from a local FChatter (just don't tell them you're an Aggie!;);))

Well, good enough for me. And the F40 and TR are amazing cars, so you had good taste by age 7.

77-0, 2 losing seasons in 4 years when there were none the previous 20, more 20+ pt losses during his tenure than in the last 15+ years, etc. We have to suffer through all that, and all we get is one win over t.u. in Austin. He is like 2-14 againt Oklahoma, Nebraska, t.u., and TTU.

I bet y'all are really growing to like coacher Fran. He is awful. We really whiffed when we hired him a LONG, miserable 5 years ago. He couldn't manage a dairy queen, much less a college football team. Numerous coaching blunders: '05 Clemson, '06 Oklahoma, etc. No other program in America can bring in top 25 recruiting classes and still field defenses ranked 100th in the country. Dont get my started on Fran...hahah....

To make it Ferrari related, he needs to get a Ferrari to drive away from CS as quickly as possible.

Well the age 7 part came from seeing pics of cars in magazines. To tell you the truth, I never even saw a Ferrari in real life (except for a couple here or there at car shows) until I was 10 years old. I live in Waco, so its not like Houston in the Galleria area where people driving Ferrari's and Lamborghini's are seen multiple times a day. In Waco, you'd be lucky to spot a Ferrari once or twice a year. Anyways, when I was 10 years old, the first Ferrari I saw was at my school. We knew there was a kid in the grade a head of me that's dad had a Testarossa, but few had ever seen it until that day. I was waiting on the school bus to go home, and there it was, in the loop idling along with all the other parents' cars picking their kids up. I was in love with Ferrari from that moment on, especially Testarossas. I guess the Testarsossas kinda coming across as being Ferrari's flagship car in the 80s and early 90s make it an icon. I bet if you asked anyone in their 20s what model of Ferrari they first think of, I wouldn't be surprised if Testarossa is the top choice by far. I really thing for people in my generation that it is truly an icon.

You won't have to go that far. Keep an eye out for FCA events at Texas World Speedway right there in College Station. Attend, strike up a conversation and a ride will likely materialize. Hope it happens for you.

Ya know, I have never really been into racing much, but I always knew we had a track down HWY 6, After looking it up on wikipedia, I had no idea is was as large as it was. How fast could someone go at that place on the longest oval track? Could you get a street car Ferrari to 180+ on the high banked oval?

All this time, I always though Texas World Speedway was some small rinky dink track that you probably wouldnt have enough room to hit more than 100mph on on the straightaways.
