i wanna buy a set of HID headlight for my 355 but i am not sure whether its H1 or H4 or H7 any ideas???
Check your Owners Manual -- they usually give the existing bulb types in the "Electrical" section (and I can predict that they're something oddball -- you don't give year, but I looked and the '95 & '97 US 355 headlights are given as HB3-65W for the high beams and HB4-55W for the low beams).
I have installed it on my 348, it uses H1 lights. I put the Hella 6000K HIDs, its just amazing. Driving the car is much safer now. Looks far brighter than the OE Xenons.
Did you replace just the buld or did you purchase and install a complete new balast and Xenon bulb system? This is always confusing to me. If it is just a xenon bulb which brand did you get? Mario
my car is at the shop for cam belt change and i wanna get the HID done at the same time, so i dont have the owner's manual here with me to check i asked a friend of mine who also happen to own a 355, he said its H1
I did my HID on a 348 few months ago, superb investment. I think 355 & 348 shares the same light unit which is a H1. You need to purchase the entire set with ballast, bulbs & wiring( heard it consumes lesser wattage as well?). It costs US$500 here in Singapore including installation. I think mine was Hella ballast with Philips bulbs? There's some cheaper Korean, Taiwan, Japanese brands as well. You can also opt for Bi-xenon but you'll hardly use the hi-beam. In fact, I changed all bulbs to newer specs, blue coated & the car "glows white" @ night rather than the old yellowed tone.
