PLEASE!!! dont get mad at me, I´m doing a lot of work on my GT4 ( valves, water pump, belts and tensioner bearings, exhaust coated, valve cover painted, coolant hoses changed, steering rack change, all suspension bushings replaced, radiator recored, brakes rebuilt. ) basically the works.

But I wonder if anyone has ever tried to change the clutch into a hydraulic clutch, I´m in Mexico city, and there is just too much trafic , so I guess my leg takes a toll., so if anyone has done this, I would sooooo much appreciate your help, or comments, before I start.

Ok, now you can stone me ! haha !

I believe the mondial has a hydraulic clutch. As far as what it takes to convert your car to use that seems feasible but I am not certain what challenges you will have.

Try these people, they have a kit ready to go,

Also the group iv rally cars used hydraulic clutches, but they had special pedal boxes, the kit above is an add on to the existing box.

That link was great! Very interesting products they have on offer.

As for your clutch, isn't the later model clutch lower effort? I've never listened to any of the talk about the retrofit but I think it can be done.

Wow, that looks like a great solution. Any idea how it connects to the pedal, though? Does the MC mount at the front of the tunnel, with the clevis to the existing pedal-cable connection? I had worked out a solution for the clutch side of this, using Mondial parts, but I was hung up on getting the MC up under the bonnet with the MCs for the brakes....

Frank, I would just contact them as it is being sold as a bolt on kit. I am guessing there maybe a few holes etc need to be drilled but other than that looks ready to go.

Once I replaced my clutch with a stock replacement it was alot easier to use. I don't know if they changed the spring pressure over the years but I no longer have to wedge myself between the pedal & the seat to depress it.

Is the clutch/pressure plate original or an original-spec replacement?

It's all about leverage...I don't know about the GT4 but my 328 has an extremely light clutch pedal that is not difficult at all to deal with in bumper to bumper stop/go traffic. Whether I LIKE to do all that shifting/clutching in such traffic is a different issue but it is not strain at all. Old cables can get corroded/rusted/gritty and become much stiffer than they are supposed to be.

Perhaps the GT4 used a different set of "leverages" or maybe it just needs a new cable and an adjustment.

I wouldn't convert to an HYD clutch until I determined that everything is adjusted perfectly and that the cable is in like-new condition. OTOH, if the clutch/pressure plate was replaced in the past with a "high performance" version, that could be the explanation for the heavy clutch. If it was, change it back. There's no advantage to a stronger clutch for a stock or fairly stock motor. (Or even for a hotted-up motor - all you are doing is changing the as-designed fail point of the drivetrain from a cheap part (clutch) to expensive parts - axles/tranny/etc.)

So I assume no one here has used this? I think it might be worth a try..

Certainly the pedal efforts and travel on my glass 308 are a tiny bit heavy, compared to my 328 which in reality is not much more taxing than a regular car. The beauty of an hydraulic clutch is no failed cables! I will be going hydraulic on my 308 but it's all part of a group iv upgrade so new pedal box anyway.

More interested in the 4V inlet manifolds they have - wonder if you could bolt a set of throttle bodies to 'em? :)
