ben 2m14s how does this time compare with other marques? I notice it didn't have CCB's and with a passenger there is another 100kg. Also looked like he wasn't pushing too hard.Do you know the guy at all? rock on
Thanks alot for the link, but what are you guys using to watch it? I have tried it with a couple of different media players and all of them are having probs playing it
doesn't look like he was pushing it that hard but you do hear some good tire squeal which would suggest otherwise. video, especially if not in car, is notoriously poor for representing speed. a buddy of mine did 2:05s and 2:06s in his CGT on his first time out there and he is not the best driver. other than that, i don't really know of any other times.
FWIW (and based on my own knowledge/experiences/observations), approximate lap times (with competent/very experienced drivers) are: Radical SR-8: low 1:30s Radical SR-3: high 1:30s - low 1:40s Porsche 996 Cup Car: mid 1:40s Carrera GT: mid 1:40s to high 1:40s Porsche GT-3: high 1:40s, low 1:50s Lotus Elise: low to mid 1:50s New or inexperienced drivers can easily add 10-20 seconds per lap, given the technical nature of the track and no long straightaways.
what is "SM times"? if "SM times" has to do with running T'hill counter clockwise, those are not realistic times at all: http://www.nasaproracing.com/results/2004_25race.html
ah thanks. according to the chart i posted though, the times listed earlier in this thread would have to either be clockwise or incorrect. btw, i believe the best time on that chart, 01:47.90, was by a 993 RSR.
I have but still no good - the sound stutters and doesn't match whats happening on screen. Thanks for the help though
Where did you get this numbers? I find them difficult to believe. I guess we need to find out if they were running the full 3mile track or shorter versions.
3 miles in 1:30... that's 120mph! Wow! And someone said this was a technical track... (vid is still going)
yes, 120 mph avg is miraculous indeed given my buddy with the CGT said he only got to 150 on the main straight, it's a very high hp car, and the other couple of straights aren't anywhere near that speed. avg'g 120 mph through this is quite an accomplishment: http://www.thunderhill.com/html/trackmap.html
Thanks for the updates. After watching the video it appeared he was not pushing it. He was not cutting some of the apex's IMO
the video size is huge i've never seen video that big before. i had to run it through virtualdub and save it as half size (still 720x540) which came down to 28mb and still better than broadcast quality.
go to Video, Filters, Add Filter... etc also set your audio filter on too (~48/64kbps) or the size will inflate like a long-term girlfriend's bum. Image Unavailable, Please Login
There are other videos on the site. But I´m having trouble to see them with Windows Media Players, BS Player, etc. I just can´t see them! Plz help...
Guys, if it's choppy etc. the problem is that your processor can't handle the quality of the video. If it doesn't work at all, you need the DivX codec (or player). I'll cut a much smaller version this afternoon and post it. It defeats the purpose of the high-def recording/editing, though... has anyone watched this stuff on their big screen? My friend has a projector - we watched some of it outdoors against his house (15 foot "screen" and it was absolutely incredible). I'll produce a WMV hi-def of this and some other stuff from that track day soon too. Pete.
OK, there's now a DVD quality version (Windows Media Format) in the Ferrari section on trapster.net. One other thing - if you didn't follow the Read Me instructions and simply clicked on the link, that might also explain the choppiness. First save the file to your computer (right click, then choose "Save Target As..."), then play it. Enjoy, and please let me know if you are still having problems.
Did a little research. Speed Ventures runs time trials where they time every lap and award prizes, etc, so it's more competitive than your typical DE. A sample of their lap records for Thunderhill, counterclockwise with cyclone (the most typical config, and the one I ran Friday) are as follows: Radical SR-3 (race tires) - 1:54.85 Viper (race tires) - 1:56.01 NSX (race tires) - 2:00.75 Gary
