What kind of issues could a high mileage (18,000-25,000) 360 coupe have? What kind of high cost service will a car like this need?

as longs as the car is kept properly you shouldn't have any issues. The GDC 360 has 37,000 miles on it already and is performing great.

If the car is in good shape mechanically, I think your next big expense would be the 30,000 miles service. I've been quoted 5-7k for this service.

I'd much rather own a 4 year old 20K mile regularly used 360 than a 5000 mile garage queen. You're more likely to have mechanical issues and weird problems with an extremely low mileage car (of any make).

Besides, I think the owners who have enough enthusiasm to actually drive their Ferraris also take better care of them.

I would guess the only issue would be resale...seems as if most folks in the market for a 360 want something pretty virginal, say with 1,000-4,000 miles.

In the US, the Ferrari crowd views any Ferrari with over 3000 miles on the odometer as having too many miles. :)

I purchased a 5,300 mile garage queen. So far she's doing great! She just needed to stretch a little.

As the owner of above-mentioned 37k mile Ferrari, I'd now almost RATHER have a higher-mileage car than not -- too many things still "waiting to go wrong", and in the past 9 months, we've worked out just about all the bugs ... since the 30k major the car's been running stronger and smoother than when I bought it originally (12k miles back last March).

I'd worry that if I'm buying a <5k mile '00 or '01, there are lots of things to hand grenade on you _IF_ (that's a big IF) you're planning on driving a lot. If not, (i.e. 1 - 2k miles / year, instead of / month for us), then you should be fine.

Just be sure to budget around $1 - $1.50 / mile on maintanance and you'll be fine. That number goes down the more miles on the car...
