How many on here are enjoying their 458’s and racking up the mileage? I have 34k miles on mine. What specific preventative maintenance in excess of Ferrari’s standard maintenance intervals do people recommend to keep them going under high mileage conditions? I’m doing more frequent oil change s. That’s about it. Anything else high mileage 458 owners should do? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I work on one that is over 100k miles. Regular annual maintenance, fluid changes, filters. Just did blower motor and some other minor repairs. Still on original engine and transmission.
In my opinion the drive train on these cars if not beat into the ground and are maintained properly, they should get 200,000 or more out of them. There is no reason why not. If there are reasons, I would like to hear of them.
I bought my 2013 458S Oct 2020 with 10k miles and I've put about 12k miles. These include 4 track days and a whole lot of spirited mountain driving. Here's what I've done to it maintenance-wise: 2 oil changes, new brake pads, new air filter, new spark plugs, and new MS 4S tires. All done by a reputable local shop. Car runs great. The only issue I'm concerned about it the eDiff signal shows once in a while. Totally random and no impact on the driving dynamics, at least that I can tell anyways.
Similar. I also had DCT fluid changed. Front shocks were leaking so I recently had those changed. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
‘13 spider, purchased 3 years ago w/2k miles, now approaching 30k. I daily it. Zero problems. Regular maintenance (it’s in the shop 2-3x per year) and plugs. Like @Petrolhead#32 I started tracking mine a bit and also spirited driving, which is what these cars need.
Mine isn't high mileage yet, but that's the plan. It's a 2015 and had 5500 when I received it in April. Has over 9k now and that's with it being down (or actually up) for modifications a good bit last year. It's become my daily, and hoping to do 8-10K this year.
I should do this, but I find myself thinking of where I'm parking it when I drive it and that has caused me issue with driving mine more. Parking it at costco, the mall, going out at night, especially with the issues we have now with crime in the bay area... I also subscribe to driving it is the best maintenance. Mine has nearly 39K miles on it, but it's a 2010. I've only done oil changes, brake pads, brake fluid. Only issue thus far has a been a left rear wheel speed sensor going bad. Also changed the battery once.
I’m not sure how “high mileage” is defined within the context of this thread, but I’ll chime in on my 2015 458 Italia. It currently has ~16,850 miles on it. I’ve had it for just over two awesome years. It had 8,660 on it when purchased, so I’ve done another 8k in the last two years. It has had no issues, the only maintenance has been the prepaid annuals. My 7th and last “free to me” annual is due now. This is my first Ferrari and all I can say is I wish one of you blokes would have slapped some sense into me twenty years ago and I would have two decades of Ferrari awesomeness under my belt by now. Having said that, I’m loving every minute of my 458 experience. Two years later, it still races my pulse every time I walk into the car park. I’m enjoying learning from all of you and I will continue to apologise for any numpty questions that I might ask. Cheers! I highly doubt, that 100 000 miles of normal usage can do anything serious to a 458. For me that car is bullet-proof and also I don't understand why people consider 100K miles as a normal mileage for a regular 10-year old car and same mileage is considered super high for a 10-year old Ferrari. I really hate that stupid "mileage" s**t, that everybody pays so much attention to. Enjoy the damn thing, instead of keeping it locked in the garage!
My 458 was locked in a garage until I rescued it. Now I’m averaging 15k miles per year! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You ‘da man bruddah! [emoji2] Blimey, your 15k yearly mileage makes my 4k kinda puny by comparison! The last few years before I retired, I averaged about 60k (yes, 60,000) miles per year in a SonderKlasse Benz. [emoji44] So glad I’m not doing that anymore, it seemed like I lived on the roads at times. The M-B dealer loved me though, as I was in the dealership several times a month for service. Cheers and enjoy your Prancing Horse! “I see a line of Supercars and they’re all painted red… Visions of Prancing Horses dance in my head. Not mine, but look at the mileage on this 458… Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I ticked over 41,000 miles today. I think its probably one of the highest milage 458's in the UK. Have owned it 3 years and zero mechanical issues in that time despite driving 24,000 miles. It really is the dream supercar. Affordable (ish) and maintenance regularly you wont have problems. They don't build em like this anymore.
30K on my 2010 458 of which 25K are mine. Main't, repairs (all minor) & tires has averaged $3200/yr. The car has never left me stranded.
2011 458 italia. Got it at 80000km 6 months ago. Now 92000km. Almost daily car. Use for supermarket errands. Finger cross.
I love "devaluing" my 2015 458 Spider. Hit 20K miles yesterday, bought it 2 years ago with 7K miles. Also living in Michigan limits the amount of days/year I can drive her but every chance I get she's out on the roads. Frank Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Any real reason why you are revving the engine to nearly 8,000 RPM in neutral. Why? These engines need a load on them when pushing RPM.
