No, I love this car. I just love doing the few mods it needs. I looooooooove my 599. it's like a new baby in the family. I'm going to keep buying more of them, F12's and 812's over the years. Just love this classic work of art. My 599 just needs a few minor mods to get to what amazing is to me. Mine actually was lowered by previous owner to just a few inches clearance. It needs to go up a 1/2 inch.

I'm blacking out all the emblems and the grill. Similar to a number of GTO's look and feel. Doing the same with the lights - having them done in Carbon Fiber inside.

I just don't like the 20 inch wheels. Have 22's on back and 21's on front but still have the stock rims if I want to rally it. Are you going to FCA at Sebring in November?

Mine is without the cats as well. Sounds amazing.

Previous owner lowered it way too much, that's why I need it raised a 1/2 inch. He lowered it so much you can't even tell the difference between sport and race modes.

I'm carbon fibering the a/c vents, the door handles, the F1 center box.

Sorry for the delayed response. The color is Bordeaux Pontivecchio. It's actually a Maserati color that the original owner special-ordered from the factory. A few years ago I bought my girl a Maserati GT convertible in the same color. I told her she was not allowed to bring it to the same location as my 599. You know....two girls wearing the same dress to a party.....lol.

Getting closer to selling it [or not]. Just had the annual service completed and new Michelin Pilot Sport 4s "shoes" mounted. Have not driven it since the service/tires as the car in in FL while I am in NC. I probably should not drive it as I will fall in love with it again and won't want to sell. But I have 5 V-12s....GTC, BB512, SA, 599 and an F12. The F12 was purchased with the intention of selling the 599. Chasing and buying and driving is fun. For me selling is not as easy. 599s are undervalued IMHO. And my 599 has a unique color, is in great condition......still on the fence. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Your 599 could be almost mistaken for Vinaccia! Another cool color

That is a unique and rare color. I agree, they are unvalued. I just bought my first 599 last month and feel I got it at a great price, lower than I expected.

Thanks for the info! Definitely a unique color. I assume it’s named after the bridge in Florence?

Out of curiosity, is the red car you bought a month ago the one out of Orlando?

I just turned 30,000 miles over the weekend - so my car is worthless...

anywho, its fun car, love the sound and its great to drive - nice and cool, looks good. what is not to like. - however I do have to do new rear tires - ran over a screw - so far its h0lding air but once I get a min - off to new pirelli's

LOL! I did new Pirellis last year in spite of everyone raving about the Michelins. Let us know how you like them.

I put new ones on the front about 4 months ago, the rear tires had about 1000 miles left so was trying to wait till a track day... but we've been looking at new houses, and stupidly i took the Ferrari to make sure it fits in a garage - two days later find a giant screw in the right rear! 1 can of fix a flat and its holding... until I have time to get it to FOA.

The MPSS tyres are a light and day difference compared to the Pirelli's, so much more confident and slightly softer with much much better feedback.

    I'm a fan.

    Correct.

I learned a bit of history about that bridge while in Firenze. The road level of the bridge was packed with butchers and food stores. Apparently the smell was so bad that they built a 2nd level so royalty could cross the Arno and not have to walk through the odiferous lower level.

Now the bridge is all jewelry stores. Ironic.

Agree. Firenze is my favorite city too. Unlike Roma Firenze is a walking town that offers so much to see and do and eat!! I am always amazed at the Duomo. 600 years to build with marble carvings sky high.

Hi guys - was about to start a thread but a high mileage 599 thread may the right starting point so here goes. Am currently looking at 599's, coming from an Aston Martin Vantage (stick shift) and sports classics before that i.e. I prefer cars with feel and feedback on the road and have been seriously impressed by the 599's Ive tested (Cali's not so much...) Ive now come across a 2008 599 with 46,000 miles on it , which seems a lot but its actually in extremely good condition, always main dealer serviced and ive gone through all the service invoices and it really has been looked after properly. Totally solid to drive and relatively low wear on the clutch and brake pads.
Its a beautiful colour combination (to my taste - Silverstone Grigio and Cuoio - see picture) which is quite rare and has all the right specs. The two concerns I do have and wonder if you guys can give some input are as follows:
    • Discs (Rotors in US speak - carbon ones) were read as 68% back in 2018 at around 35,000 miles (unfortunately no readings more recent) . From what I have read getting a set replaced is a chunk of change (around £20k as far as I can tell) and Im trying to figure out whether Im going to have to do this pretty soon if I get it - or whether they still have plenty of mileage left. I can maybe factor this into the negotiation but wondered what your views on wear are.
    • Secondly is the general question of a higher mileage car like this. Im generally in the camp of "drive the damn thing and enjoy it" which is what I did with my classics and am doing with my Aston. The comments on here indicate the 599 is fairly bomb proof but just wondered if this is heading into danger territory. Id get a Ferrari check done on it anyway , but as a general question what is your view on getting a well maintained but extensively driven car like this?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this

I bought mine 5 years ago at 26k - Pads were showing at 85% worm then, it's now on 60k and I'm due to replace them in the next 12 months I'm looking at getting them refurbed at about £8k with Rebrake, go new with Surface Transform for around £12k or yu could replace them now with Steels and box up the Ceramics for future sale and use it like you stole it :) .

That looks lovely, buy it going in knowing you'll need to replace them at some point if it's a keeper, mine is.

Well used ones will need money spending, no doubt, I've spent probably £30k in 5 years, Suspension replaced twice - I use mine in all weathers, Diff rebuild, new gearbox actuator box but various niggles like parking sensors (I've replaced all of mine), clutch, clutch master line, mechanically underneath mine is fine, if i have a good year next year I will get it resprayed and PPF'd.

Go for it eyes wide open, I don't regret my purchase, although my wife might sometimes, the miles of smiles far outweigh the cost in my opinion.

Thanks Justin. Very interesting and helpful. Im impressed/surprised at the limited pad wear in 34k miles - the one im looking at is only 40% worn (probably its 2nd set) so clearly plenty of life left - Ive picked up here that rule of thumb is disc wear is around half that of pad wear, so perhaps there's a fair bit more life left in the discs than I thought.

Will be curious about your experience with Rebrake as Ive seen comments on here saying its almost impossible to recode the car (usage) except via Ferrari so sort of resigned myself to that. With your suspension rebuilds Im assuming shocks and bushes? Who do you use for servicing - Im in North London so not a million miles from you and would welcome recommendations on that front too.

Youre right about "eyes" open on cost - I had classics for years which had a habit of expensive issues and goes with the territory - not that my wife liked that either ;)

    Hi Jonny,

Pads were around £1k all replaced inc fitting and I'm pretty sure they were Original pads, mine had life left but was doing a 3k road trio and didnt want an issue when away.
I think a good indy with the right tools can re-calibrate the discs, so I've heard.
Yes to shocks and bushes - seems the Ferrari ones don't last that long, my car was kept outside for the 1st year, then in a garage tent but used all over Winter so I'm going full Hill Engineered ones in the New Year all-round upper and lower.

I'm now using Raj at Supercar Servicing for all of my work, but will probably use Aldo or GTO for my servicing moving forwards - I used a specialist in MK for a while, never again though!!!

I take my car in every year for whatever service is due and usually one or two upgrades. My car has 45K on the clock and still looks and drives like it's new. I can tell you that some F dealers don't know what they are doing and contribute to the cars not functioning correctly. I am the second owner of this 599 and I have all the paper work through the car's entire life. When I first got the car it needed to sorted out because of all the stupidity a dealer had done to the car. Find a really good independent shop and you will be golden!

Thanks Justin. I see Aldo (Riverside Engineering in Chessington?) is well regarded in the UK community but are they still in business? Was looking around and there's no Riverside website or phone number. You have any info on that?
