My friend Richard Cole racked up 163,000 km on his 71 Daytona before he sold it recently. Never had the heads off in all that time. He owned the car for 30 years, and it was his daily driver for perhaps 10 of those 30.

The new owner has decided to give it a much deserved overhaul.

A french owner had 3xx.000 kms on his 512 TR back when the Maranello was introduced. He had several clothes stores all over France and used his TR to go visit them weekly.

A local long time 275 GTB owner rebuilt his engine after more than 250,000 miles. I understand that other than replaceing valves, nothing was done to the engine prior to the rebuild.

I heard about a 348 with more than 30,000 miles once. I think it was in LA.

My '85 308 had 81K on it when I bought it this spring. I liked the discount I got for the high miles and not having to worry about clocking up miles effecting resale. I've put another 1K wonderful miles on it in the last two months. I figure at that rate it'll only take me 4 years to make the big 100K! Then I REALLY don't need to worry about miles affecting resale.

This just goes to show everyone that if they are taken care of properly, they will last an incredibly long time. The late Porsche 911 sc and 911 carrera engines of '84-'89 are the grand champion high-mileage sports car engines. It is amazing how a '85 911 with 80k miles sells for about the same as a '85 308 with the same mileage. A 911 engine of the mentioned vintage with less than 100k miles is still considered practically new. IMHO, a 308 engine can go just as long if properly maintainted. I am constantly amazed by 911 engines that are not maintained, yet they still leak-down with very good figures.

I was hoping to put serious miles on my 355, but it needed a complete engine teardown and rebuild after 22,000 miles due to a spun connecting rod bearing and worn valve guides. I worry about how many of these engine rebuilds I'll have to do before I reach 200,000miles???

My TR has about 50,000 miles. Its never needed an engine rebuild, but its getting its second complete transmission rebuild, and it really hasn't ever been driven hard (only had 2 clutches in its whole life that weren't my fault)...

Ferraris are like fine wine, they only get better with age (or mileage).

67,000 miles on an '02 575..not high mileage in the "real world"..but 65,000 miles in 2 1/2 years in a f-car is a little unusual.

90,000km on our 250 Pf coupe, fired her up today and took her for a drive on our country roads. Second gear with the gas pedal mashed to the floor and the original mufflers is still quite a thrill. Coming home on our narrow gravel road, we encountered a farm truck coming our way. He pulled over and stopped! What a considerate thing to do. It is a state law here to stop and make way for horses. Or maybe he just wanted to have a closer look. Oregon is a nice place with nice people.

I think Tillman is the verge of going over 100k with his 328 about now, (unless he already has.)
