    Greetings!

I've been doing a lot of research on 348s lately and have noticed that the mileage seems to be across the board, and I was wondering if anyone had any insight on what is considered "too high" or "sufficient" and at what price. I apologize in advance for my Ferrari incompetency, currently a Lotus guy but interested in dabbling in the Ferrari world here at some point..

    Thank you in advance!

Welcome to Ferrarichat. I like 348's, although I have selected its younger brother as my car of choice.

Condition and what has been "done" on these cars is the primary valuation.

Miles and what's considered low vary per model.

I suggest that Most consider 15k miles and lower as very low and might pay a premium for that. Some might stretch that to less than 25k miles on 348's. Anything from 25 to 45k miles is a pretty "normal range" for mileage and command a normal price. Once mileage gets over 45k, the car doesn't melt, but buyers will start to pay less because they might prefer one with lower miles. Over 60k miles will be even harder to sell without dropping the price because Ferrari made a good quantity of these cars.

There are solid and beautiful cars available in all mileage categories. Miles are not indicative of a bad owner or bad service during the ownership. I would not hesitate to buy a high mileage car 60k+ as long as there was regular service intervals and good records with a good PPI.

I personally would never buy a time capsule car with really low miles.

I will defer to the 348 owners to comment on values.

    Hope this helps.

    Robb

I took the heads and pan off my 348 at 70k mi+. The cylinder walls looked new, as did the bearings. I ground the valves and replaced the valve seals. No valves needed replacement nor did the guides. I have put a clutch in it. Many sets of tires. One rear wheel bearing. Two major services. I drive mine about 3000mi per year like I stole it. The car is still tight. The interior isn't perfect anymore. I'm keeping it, but not entering any concours. It's paid for. The money I paid didn't give me any thrills, nor, for that matter, security. It's still extremely fast and draws a lot of compliments. I don't care what it's worth to anybody else. Dayum, I love this car.

I tend to take 'high number of owners' as more of a problem that mileage per se. As far as I have seen in my experience, the more hands a car has gone through the more 'issues' start to creep in.

The exception being where a real enthusiast has eventually got hold of the car and lavished thousands on it, wanting things to be absolutely 'right' rather than just 'ok'. Trouble is these cars don't often come back to market.

    Thank you for the responses!

It's interesting (and comforting) to hear this about the mileage. I've been used to 4 cylinders for quite some time and under the impression that higher mileage on a 4 cyl is "not ideal" when it comes to sports cars. Obviously, such a small engine does not carry over to the Ferrari world, but I was definitely curious as to what people's impressions were...
