i have a memory in the back of my mind about a doctor and his wife getting killed on some cannonball run when a tire blew at high speed,,
tires are better today, but a road hazard can do some harm without you knowing it,,
Our cars are so fast its hard to keep 'em under 100,, I understand

and also, i am having a ***** of a time with insurance, it would be almost impossible for me if i had a violation or two

BTW, i lived near Yankee Stadium when i was a kid, and moved to Queens,, i must have passed Aviation School a million times going to work in Long Island City.
The Air Force didn;t want me, otherwise i might have been flying escort for you

Clyde- I traded it and $5000 for 365 GTB/4 14009 in 1978. I actually bought 02984 in Poughkeepsie. Flew there and drove her back.

That Testarossa that crashed had VR rated tires instead of ZR, but the organizers passed it because those were the OEM tires. Never again. One of the rears, where all the weight was.

@wbklink I was prowling the old thread
    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/147515131/

And I don’t think you got an honorable mention yet here on the “high mileage threads for your high mile ‘98 TdF 550.

In that post you noted over 90k. Are you still under 100k?

    Any fun big trips recently?

I grew up there! That must have been a sight back then. Now that I think about, I don’t believe I ever saw a Ferrari in Poughkeepsie all the way till leaving for college.

Yes the 512 TR AC was ok but not as good as the 575 in the summer heat of the south.

My experience as well. Drove my TR from Ft Lauderdale to NYC one Summer and was fine, but 550 is another level, can handle Palm Springs Summer, no easy feat.

I've been driving my 550 for years in the Las Vegas heat I never have a heating problem air conditioning going full blast... couple of times driving home from Vegas 110° stuck in traffic car is perfect one of my technicians set up the cooling system never had a problem after that!
I have two master technicians that have always looked after me, but I also over service my car change all the fluids every January even when they say Bill this is fine you don't have to change it I'll change it they laugh at me but love my car :)

I am glad your 550 can handle the heat, that was one of the big improvements on the 575.
