Checked oil for 1st time on my (2 months /900 miles) z06 w dry sump and was very, very high. Car runs normally. Tested dipstick several times as per owners manual.

Getting very conflicted recommendations on vette forums. Range from ignore it, lower it and check if goes back up, test oil for gas/antifreeze, tow to dealer asap, etc

What say you guys? Thanks for any advice

I assume you followed what ever the owners manual said on how to check the oil; engine hot, engine cold, check when engine is idling and warm etc. If you followed the instructions and it is still high I would change the oil and measure what you get out and then replace with new oil and check it again as per instructions in your manual. It is not good to run a dry sump with too much oil, usually the PCV system is plumbed into the oil tank and you suck oil into the engine’s intake system and that is not good.
I would do this myself and not have the dealer do it that way you will sure of the above results.
And shame on you for defecting to GM guys haha:p

What's the status of the car? An absolutely new car that you took new delivery at 0 miles, or a used car that you bought after someone else had an opportunity to do things wrong?

I like Vern's suggestion to drain and compare the amount removed to the specified amount (with some fudge factors for oil filter, lines, not really possible to get it all out, etc.) as a sanity check (and a coolant check).

Most Ferrari owner manuals recommend checking the oil level with a warm engine at idle. Is this the procedure you followed? If so and the level is an above the maximum line, I recommend removing some oil to get below the maximum line.

Car was new with 7 miles on it when purchased. (Was built in Sept 24 and sat outside on lot over cold winter if that matters). It runs well without issues. I followed instructions in manual.

I could understand slightly overfilled but this must be several quarts over. Don't see how that happens without something leaking in.

I will lower level to normal and send sample to oil analysis company then check every day if goes back up. Calling Chevy dealer too but not expecting much help from them.

Yes, new delivery should minimize errors unless, during a pre-delivery check, an inexperienced tech did it wrong and thought that he/she needed to add several quarts. What are the Owner's Manual checking instructions?

So I checked again today in bright sunlight vs dim garage light and only looks slightly overfilled. Maybe less than quart. So will just keep checking to see if goes up. Btw it's a c8z. Thanks everyone
