yesterday i serviced my 550 maranello. I changed oil and filters, then took it for a ride. Though water temperature was quite normal, oil temperature was much higher than water tempoerature and not quite to the red mark. Does anyone have any ideas why this is so? I have never noticed this abnormality before.

Happened to me after a similar service. Check the oil level..mine was 2 qts low and the problem was corrected with the addition of oil.

well, the manual said to put 10 liters, i put 10 then checked level, it was too low, so I added one more, and checked, it was at minimum, just how many quarts/liters does the maranello hold? Why does the owner's manual say 10 liters? thanks for your response

This is the same problem I whent through. When you drain the oil and change two filters whitout disconecting oil lines you need 12-13 quart. That 10 quart idea do not know where it came from. One possibility if you do not change the filters, but I am not sure. The why your oil was runing hot dont know.
