hey fellows,,,havent been on for a while,,,got my 328 out of the shop back in april on a 30k major service..all went well...been out driving the car .,maybe every other weekend with no issues...this morning i noticed a high pitched type of whine from the back of the car on decelleration no matter what gear im in...a number of years ago i believe i had a similiar problem...which was cured by changing out one of the wheel bearings,,,im not sure how long the car has been making the sound,,im usually pretty in tune with the way all should be,,but this morning it was very noticable..i took the car home ..and thought i would ask you guys before i brought the car back to the shop,,,,any input would be appreciated,,,thanks brett

Did they pull the engine for the service?

If so, you may want to check the engine / half-shaft alignment --- if your motor mounts aren't perfectly tight, things can get a bit askew when you simply "drop" the engine back in. If one of the axles is too out-stretched or crooked, the CV joint(s) can be over stressed and "whine".

hey ,,thanks for your reply...they did not pull the engine for service,,,i think most ferrari guys out here in CA do 308/328 services without pulling the engine,,,,by the way,,,i wanted to mention on low rpm decelleration...the noise is almost absent,,,only when the rpms are higher ,,do i hear the sound...do you think it could be the wheel bearings,,,i hope so,,,thx brett

What kind of oil did they use in the transbox?

The rear diff on my Alfa used to make an annoying whine at a specific speed, but switching to synth gear old (redline) cured it.
