ive never heard of that, you can go to whitepages.com and get a background check for less than $30 if you want to take it that far, I think the principal will intervene(sp?) everytime there was ever a problem like that and the principal was called it would be taken care of

To offer some perspective, I was requested to do this multiple times in university classes even when the class sizes were very small.


Then again, I'm not 13 years old or female. I would tell you to keep your guard up, but it sounds like you are already doing a great job! Many parents overlook stuff like this to an appalling degree.

We had teachers ask us to do this in different classes in France , even at University.

They see so many different faces that it helps them . Just take a face shot .

 

I know I would like to have pictures and names of some of the people I meet. I'm not the best when it comes to remembering names /faces. It would be a big help if I was a teacher. Though, in this day and age, I would think a teacher wouldn't touch this with a ten foot pole. I would definitely find out what his deal is... Could be harmless, but you don't know.

 

Unless he asked for naked full body pics, I wouldn't worry about it. He just asks for face pictures to recognize his students, especially when he's a temp teacher and doesn't have much time to get to know the kids. Happened more than once when I was in school.

What raises the Red Flag here is the fact that the guy is a substitute teacher. That bothers me.

 

Substitute or not , doesnt matter , for both the first 2/3 weeks will be the ones where he will wondering what is your name when you raise your hand.

My thoughts exactly. In college multiple teachers did that for us, but a substitute should not need it, even if he is there for a few weeks.

 

Yes I have heard of it... most of the time the kids are required to sign a release or something though and its good for a short term class (like a summer program). and for a temp who wont be there a while i guess it makes sense but still, did he tell the kids to ask their parents? seems like he should just learn their names the good ol way

I would have these last tow checked off the list as well. This situation sounds creepy. Very creepy.

 

When you are 13, you can seat where you want, at least in France .

meh..i dont see any evil in this , esp if its a face shot. We were asked time and again for pics in my youth and it never crossed anybodys mind that the teacher migh be a pedophile.

 

It does not sound right to me.
