okay i've been looking for some high temp epxoy to fill in some holes in the exhaust headers where the Co's taps were. the rusted out and i cant get a good seal on a re-tap. other than going thru the hassel of removing the gas tank to get the rear bank out, i figured some high temp epxy would do the trick. i have found only one product so far that will work. 1000* resistance

    ideas?
jb-weld is only good to 600* seems that the exhasut gets hotter than that.

If the motor is in a good state of tune it will top 1000 too.

If looks don't bother you get some hex head self tapping screws similar to the ones that hold in the rear inner fenders and use those. I have seen them used lots.

    Scott,

Just a thought, but is there a way you can just jill them in with a weld. I would bet that an epoxy would fail pretty quick with the heat AND pressure. Darrell.

you think it'll top 1000* that close to the head? i tried to use the self tapping screws like the ones pluggin up banks 1-4 but the rusted remains of the nipples from the Co insert impeed progress. man i really don't want to have to go to the trouble of removing the headers for a simple weld.

On our Bonneville car which is gas, naturally asperated, we have temp sensors about the same distance from the exhaust port and have seen 1800.
Thats too high but 15-1600 is possible on a hard high RPM run in a good state of tune.

Like I said, try hex heads. It will give you a little better shot at getting them started in the remainder of the old tube.
