It is clear the 458 totally changed the status quo on low mileage Ferrari's. You can drive this cars daily w/o issue. I have 8k miles on mine over 24 months and feel like I need to drive it MORE!
Rick I have exact same impression. I would add California too as a model that proved itself as highly reliable model, even if its produced in high volumes!
+1 - the world is different with late model Ferraris. The difference between "afford to own one" and "afford to drive one" is now zero. Drive away and enjoy.
Impressions from reading this are comical, if a 20,000 dollar Camry can be reliable why would anybody expect anything less from a several hundred thousand vehicle?
The only difference between a Ferrari and a Toyota is acceleration is always intentional or unintentional?
We are talking about high revving and delicate machines here, exposed to insanely high stress. Thats why people are so amazed by reliability and maintenance expenses for current Ferrari`s. Take a look on fast yachts, jet fighters, personal watercrafts....All those machines are just like Ferrari in their categories - very precise and fast machines that are tricky to operate and hard to keep in shape. And yes, they all cost fortune
Not sure of the story on this car but it is listed on eBay for $159K and has 78000 (!) miles on it. maybe a car fax would reveal some of its maintenance.
There a few 458 on eBay with close or over 100k . Thing is I believe they were owned by rental company . Is there any private owners with high miles ( at least over 50k). So far no one has chimed in.
50K miles, all mine on my 458 spider. Been very fortunate to have no issues with the car. Somehow I think that it is luck of the draw. A good model year and then a good build at the factory. I've read threads where an owner gets delievered a new car that is never good, always with one problem after another. IMO, part of that is model year and the other part is bad luck during the build. My advice to myself is that if I get a new Ferrari which is a problem, don't keep fixing it under warranty. Get rid of it and get the next Ferrari. I'm keeping my 458 for at least another few years after the three year warranty expires. I'll buy the extended warranty. Hoping to add the next F12 next.
Hey guys, im thinking of buying my friends Ferrari 458 2011 that has around 50.000 Miles on it. What should I think of and what should I look up when I fly to him and look at the car? I need all help I can get, Its my firar 458, I obly har Lamborghini before. The car has all service in the book at a famous Ferrari dealer here in my country and it has never been to any accidents.. it is Michelin Pilot super sport tires on it and it has around 90% left of the brake rotors
Typically, if you can't be totally objective you'll see and hear exactly what you want to see and hear. It won't be until you get it home that all the flaws become apparent. It's just human nature. Have someone who's not invested emotionally or financially and knows what to look for and ask go with you and inspect the car.
125K miles on my 2010, I put 6K miles on it in the last 18 months runs like a champ! Oil, coolant flush, gasket replacement in transmission area. New tires and brake pads.
Nice! How many of those miles have you put on and how long have you had it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
