There is nice one owner manual in the ad section asking $185k. Still ridiculous but better than some other pie in the sky ask prices.

F430 MT is a great car but overhyped at this point. I would much rather have a Scuderia for the prices thrown about. Not even close, actually.

That is, and was, a separate thread. A good one, too. I seem to recall Scuderia owners preferred Scuds, 6MT owners preferred theirs, and neutrals slightly tended towards Scuderias, though that was before the most recent 6MT price uptick.

Makes sense. Speaking as a guy who's owned both, I believe the current pricing has more to do with the idea of a modern manual transmission mid-engine V8 Ferrari than the actual reality of it. I'm happy for those who held on as the market has moved strongly in your favor.

Understandable. The two cars do serve two very different purposes, mind you.

I do remember an Fchat member who owns both Scud and 6MT saying that if he had to chose one, he would let the Scud go first and keep the 6-speed.

+1 with eagleye, the manual F430 is not the easiest to drive, but once mastered this car is a MASTERPIECE.

Concerning production numbers, in France only 1% of the F430 sold were manual (confirmed by the Ferrari dealer/importer in Paris).

For the life of me I don't understand why someone would buy a Scud when for 10K more you could have a 458 Speciale which is better in literally every single way.

If you like rowing gears though there is no modern substitute.

Fantastic! I love mine. And I did sell my Scud. The MT 430 isn't really so hard to drive.

Honestly, if you want the real Ferrari manual experience it should be a V12 with manual box. The mid engine boxes to me never really match up.

    I agree.

Show me a non-storied Speciale for only $10k on top of a Scud and I will sleep outside of that dealer until the keys have been safely and irreversibly swapped.

You may have forgotten a zero. ;)

It's all subjective. To me, the Scud is one of the best value Ferrari experiences and (until recently) underpriced, and a $200k+ F430 6MT one of the poorest values and overpriced. F430 6MT should be $20k max on top of a comparable F1. That's based purely on the drive; clearly, supply constraints are allowing sellers to get you for more than its intrinsic value.

    I would much rather pay $100k to go Scud => Speciale than to go F430 F1 => F430 6MT.

It's all subjective, of course, because then you get into the question of why a 1961 California SWB Spider is worth 150 times a 360 F1 spider, when it's far worse to drive in every way (I have driven both). Logic and Ferraris don't go well together!

Manual 575s trading at double F1s now. Manual 599s several times that. Good argument for saying manual 599s not as good as F1s but nobody's listening!

Manual 430s could be seen as very undervalued vs their F1 counterparts compared to the V12s.

    Just saying.

That's an interesting one. My V12 manuals are more physical and 'haptic'. As the much lamented Fabio (banned user) pointed out, the 430 manual is spring-loaded while the V12s are not. But with that light flywheel and revs shooting up and down, matching revs on the 430 using clutch and gearlever hand is definitely a science and an art and fabulous and thrilling when you get it right.

Valid points. F430 6MT valuations are now based on more than just the drive. Should be a fun ride for those of you still holding the keys.

I couldn't help but notice that the stick shift F430's in the UK asking prices are significantly less than that in the USA. For example, the highest asking price for a MT with 2,500 miles on it the asking price is about $200.2K whereas a vehicle like that in the USA is about $250K or higher. Scroll down on this page until you see the chart comparing the F1 to the MT throughout various mileage ranges.

    F430 Market Watch - Page 25 - Supercar General - PistonHeads

The 2,500 miles vehicle asking price converts to USD to be $200.2K whereas in the USA the asking prices in that mileage range are significantly higher. Seriously why do you think that is?

    Thanks for your insight,

Currently there's a 3000 mile F430 coupe stick for sale here in the UK for around 222k USD (185k GBP asking). That's the most expensive on offer.

    http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds?Category=used-cars&M=321&SortOptions=PriceHighToLow

Pre-the recent fall in GBP-USD exchange rate, that would have been around 250k USD, which would sound like it matches US asking prices.

So it could be mainly in the exchange rate that's skewing those numbers, though it's also quite feasible that the US, which is the trend starter in classic cars, is also leading the way on the price uptick.

Point well taken, so let me see if we applied that theory, where that would be. Before Brexit I remember ordering some parts from the UK for my DB7 and I seem to recall at that time it was 1.51 so if I took 166,249 British Pounds and multiplied that by 1.51 to convert to USD I would get $251,035.99. So you are most likely correct, thus making the cars in the USA only slightly ahead over and above those in the UK.
Right after Brexit the exchange rate then went to 1.24 so 166,249 British Pounds at this rate would exchange to about $206K and now when it's at 1.203 it's $200K. So that's got to be it.
Also didn't someone remark more F430 MT's were brought into the UK as well? Which would also explain why they are slightly higher here do to the laws of supply and demand.

BTW, thanks again for mentioning Aldous Voice, as he's a Gold Mine for extracting helpful information about these cars. So I can't thank you enough for that!

    Great Stuff!!

Some of us can't afford gated F430, due to insane prices..why not 06-08 gallardos.. gated can be had for 120+ and aren't gated gallardo spyders more rare than f430s..I believe they were only produced in 06-08.

Yep supply and demand. 105 F430's for sale on pistonheads. 14 are manual. A higher % than most are quoting in the US. Got one yet? Or are you waiting for the prices to come down?

Re: Your Market Price Thread: Were you aware of this website?

Midwest Dealer St. Louis Area Posting SOLD PRICES of vehicles

Sold | Exotic Motors Midwest | Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Bentley, Aston Martin, Mercedes-Benz, Audi

Please note that for each vehicle in the General Description area to the side of the photos they usually list the sticker price for the vehicles including the options. Then if you click on "Read More" another window opens up and if you look in the "Specs" box in the left hand column you will see the stated sold price for the above vehicle. In the right hand column you will see 'Sold Note:' where it typically says thanks to SC or something like that.

Although it doesn't tell when the car was sold it does show the actual sold price. And if you were to follow that site fairly regularly one could probably get a rough idea as when there's a new post. This morning I called them right after they opened at 8:00 AM and spoke with a person in the Business Office and had it not been for the fact he was having computer problems he would have given me the exact date that this one sold:

    07 Nero F430 Spider Gated Stick (4,246) miles MSRP: $227,401K Sold: $179,888K
2007 Ferrari F430 Spider Stick Shift | Nero on Beige | EM 151218 | Exotic Motors Midwest |

However, he did say he remembered it was about 9 months earlier or the 1st Qtr. of 2016.

Wasn't this the type of information you were hoping to collect?

    Thanks,

    johnfe

Thanks so much for mentioning this! In order to put this information into proper perspective, would you happen to remember just about when these personal acquaintances of yours bought their F430 Manuals in the 195K~200Kish range of which each vehicle had less than 10K?

Just knowing approximately when that occurred would be most helpful.

    Thanks for commenting!

After doing a lot of reading about the Lamborghini Gallardo's here's what I learned for what it's worth. Lamborghini Gallardo: 2004~2014 You can learn a lot about them here on Wikipedia:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamborghini_Gallardo

First off, if you want a Spyder they weren't released until 2006. But by doing some in depth research you'll learn there was a lot of problems with the early Gallardo's which were produced between 2003~2007 and released for sale between 2004~2008. In 2009 the Gallardo LP 560-4 was released that had significant changes with a new uneven firing 5.2 L (320 cu in.) V 10 engine which produced 552 HP, and was unveiled at the Geneva Auto show in 2008.

The very first ones sold, were sold to 2 co-founders of True Religion jeans company near where I live. Therefore, a lot of people believe the only ones worth owning are the 2009~2014 models. The LP 560-4 was a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Later in 2010 they offered a second trim version the LP 550-2 which had slightly less HP and is a 2 wheel rear drive version, Jay Leno owns one of these. The 560 and 550 in the model names represent the HP each engine produces.

Perhaps that's the reason you will notice a lot of the early ones are on the Market but you'll rarely ever see the later 2009~2014 models on the Market. As far a the Gated stick versions are concerned the figure that's widely talked about is that there were only 59 MT versions released for all the years of production, making them extremely difficult to even find.

But when it comes to the Top 10 Highest Priced cars ever sold at auction what you'll find is 9 out of the 10 are; well you guessed it, Ferrari's, the only one that isn't a Ferrari is a 1954 Mercedes W196. You can read about them here:

10 most expensive cars sold at auction - Cars

What you'll note is there isn't a single Lamborghini in the bunch. By this virtue, it seems that the vehicles in this category of exotic cars that hold their value the very best are the Ferrari's!

    Thanks for your comment,

    johnfe
