I just did this drive yesterday. It's a nice road with lots of tight curves and many passing lanes. It also has many pull offs for scenery viewing and picture taking. Unlike Oregon, the road was paved all the way. :)

I suggest that you do this drive early Sunday morning because of the traffic.

Sorry. No pics. I rarely take any pictures of any event. I'll have to work on my picture taking.

If I were to take the drive from the bay area, I go up highway one to Eureka and spent the night. Then I'd leave early Sunday morning and take the I-5 back to 505 to I-80 and so forth. You'll see about 450 miles from San Francisco or Oakland after a round trip. There are some nice viewing sites all the way up highway one and 299. There are some great Seafood restruants along the coast. I like the one in Fort Bragg that's down along the water front. A lot of people call it a tourist trap, but I still like it.

A slightly longer drive, but more visually spectacular, is Hwy. 199 from Grants Pass to 101, or vice versa.
I don't recommend it during winter storms, though.

Since that is closer to me, I'll try that next summer. Thanks.
