As many of you remember, back in 2003, the Hill Country folks, in conjunction with Ferrari-Maserati of San Antonio (FMOSA), did a Make-A-Wish benefit that entailed Ferrari owners (and a few other folks) giving short rides in their cars to member sof the general public who purchased tickets: $20 for a 10 minute ride, and more for longer rides. All the money went to Make-A-Wish Foundation. There was radio & TV coverage of the event, which was staged at FMOSA's new dealership location. There were San Antonio police directing traffic & "watching over" us. And, in fact, the event was oversold: we had to halt ticket sales in order for those of us giving the rides to catch our breaths & enjoy a nice lunch provided by FMOSA.

We wanted to do a 2004 version, but scheduling conflicts interfered.

Nevertheless, we WILL be doing this event this year, on Saturday April 23rd, at FMOSA. We hope to do it a little differently, starting a little earlier in the morning, breaking for lunch courtesy of FMOSA, and then resuming rides for part of the afternoon, in order to satisfy more attendees.

Please put this date on your calendars (it conflicts with the Las Vegas Scuderia Rampage, but that cannot be helped). We want ot get as many Ferraris there as possible, offer a lot of rides, thrill a lot of people, and raise A LOT of money for Make-A-Wish, a truly great cause.

Sounds like a very worthwhile event and lots of fun. Hope it's a great success again! Unfortunately, that's Imola and the San Marino GP for us.

    Yeah but . . . a slight commute problem exists . . . we'll be in Italy.

Mr. Murphy plays havoc with calendars! It seems that some weekends little or nothing on the sked and others find you drawing straws to see where you go. Solution to the problem would be to make more weekends!

We were talking last night about the event and if we were going to be here, we'd definitely head down the road to SAT to participate. The purpose of the event is wonderful. Along similar lines, eons ago I did horse related stuff with the Ronald McDonald kids and to be able to help those terminal youngsters smile and be happy sure did make my day.

Again, best of luck and may you raise bushel-baskets of dollars for a great cause.

    Thanks, Carol.

Llama, I responded to your PM.

Ferrarikid, we will likely sell rides at the event itself, at the dealer, as we did before.

I will post more details as we get closer to 4/23.

This event is gonna be great! FOSA is gearing up and getting the word out, and they are working on a flier that can be put up on bulletin boards, etc...so if you'd like one and know of a great place to advertise, just stop by and ask for one!

If you can't make it...you can always just give a nice donation. ;)

    For Immediate Release:

SAN ANTONIO, TX: Have you, or someone you know, ever wanted to know what it was like to ride in a real Ferrari? April 23rd, from 9am until 1pm, is your chance to do just that, and support the Make-A-Wish Foundation at the same time. The Ferrari Club of America – Texas Hill Country Chapter and Ferrari/Maserati of San Antonio will be joining forces to once again raise awareness and will donate 100% of the money raised to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The day will include once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for adults and children, 36 inches and taller, to get up close and personal with the ever-elusive Ferrari. Ferrari owners, belonging to the Ferrari Club of America – Texas Hill Country Chapter, and their vehicles will be on site to give 10-minute personal rides to each attendee who donates $10 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and longer rides will be available for greater donations. For attendees with disabilities, special provisions will be made to ensure they will enjoy their Ferrari event, as well. If you or your child is 4’11” or shorter, please bring a booster seat to ensure safety during the ride. The Make-A-Wish Ferrari Drive will take place at Ferrari/Maserati of San Antonio, located at 15423 IH-10 West, San Antonio, TX 78249 and will be held from 9am until 1pm. For more information, please contact Carrie at 210.341.2800, toll-free 1.800.234.3466 or email at [email protected].

Wanna hear something really cool? At least one "Wish Family" is going to be there that day, and another "Wish Kid" out of Laredo is trying to confirm if he can attend or not. We'll be able to meet the kiddos we are trying to support! :)

Also, there will be a discount on everything in the boutique that day...so if you've had your eye on a die-cast model, cap, or anything else in there...that would be the perfect day to make it yours!

Hope to see you all there! Saturday, April 23rd from 9am until 1pm!

You guys rock. The Make-A-Wish Foundation is an awesome charity. It is good to see fellow Ferrari owners donating their cars and time to such a worthy cause. Hats off to you all. I would join you guys but my car is having an electrical issue at the moment, and I will not be in town that weekend. Good luck. I hope the event is a success.

I know there is a pretty good sized list of people driving down from the Austin area. You will not be alone. :)
