Yea-Okay you are correct, pedantics aside--But I didn't want to get into the largely irrelevant issue of speciality bearing design for one off applications. And in general, most OEM (Space, Aircraft, Military) have the engineering skill to do their own design/development but usually they define the operating spec and have the bearing house do the part.Usually they don't do they do the part in house. (It just isn't their "bag", so to speak.) Of course if you are doing hydrogen transpiration cooled bearings for the SSME turbopumps the you need a bit of unique knowledge, but that hardly relates to the Hill tensioner bearing issue, now does it?

Why should he not have posted it? Just because you and most of us don't read everything, does that mean he or anyone else shouldn't read and post his concerns about discrepancies he seen on the vender's website and what was stamped on the vendors products. I for one probably would not have caught the discrepancy. If you read OP's clutch change thread you would see he is not some shmuck just out to post useless threads. Obviously he is a very knowledgeable and attentive person. Again if you reread the original post you will see there was no attack on Hill or Ricambi. He was just pointing out a discrepancy and concern he has, which we all should have. He just wanted an answer to his original concern. He was not bashing anyone's bearing. Just wanted to know why the website said one thing and product said something else. Sometimes where there is smoke there is a fire. Not all the time but it is worth checking out, don't you think especially if it has to do with your Ferrari.. And he was checking it out.

Why is that? Do you think that other people shouldn't have the benefit of learning. Just because again most of us don't read everything. Doesn't mean a discrepancy should not be brought to our attention.

It is you sir that lives sheltered under a rock. Just because you like to stay sheltered from learning does not mean we all do.

A few of the replies here have just been useless attacks from people who first off all obviously don't read. Because if they read they would see the OP was not an attack on Recambi or Hill and if they read then they would of caught the discrepancy from vendor's website and product long before OP.

A few replies here have stated that it is more economical to out source bearing work then to manufacture them. Some brought up NASA, trust me the US government outsources everything and it doesn't always go to the best manufacturer. It goes to the cheapest. Alot of Companies outsource for economical reasons not always for better quality. Which was one of the original questions asked by OP. OP knows this and just wanted an answer.

I lurk on here way more then I post. I see it happen often, someone post a real concern or questions only to be ridiculed by the ignorant. There are some people here that just love to bash and trash others. They are on here probably because they hate people or themselves more then they love Ferrari.

With regard to discrepancies I believe that this is the sentence that has caused all the trouble!
Daniel has already changed the text on his site so that it does not give the wrong impression that we manufacture every nut, bolt & actually dig the Iron ore out of the ground in London :) but on a serious note the original wording was from our old site and I apologize if it was misleading.

One question that I have and in no way do I post this in meaning to undermine or belittle the OP, but why in Post #1 the OP wrote:

    And then then in #14?

Forgive me if I am wrong but I was under the impression that the original concern was a quality issue?

    Dude! Please calm down......

The OP asked, in what many considered to be an "unfortunate" fashion for "details" of the part.

Said details were supplied by Daniel in a timely fashion.

The OP was not satisfied (as is his right of course), and chose to return the goods.

    He got his money back.

And Ricambi/Hill's reputations were not damaged in the process.

The "system" is working as it should IMHO.

    Cheers,
    Ian
