I see that Hill offers 2 different materials for the 47mm shift knobs for the 355: Aluminum Titanium Does anyone have the weights??
Titanium knob is about 30% lighter. I don't have the weights. Ti is special order; aluminum is stock. 50mm is usually too large for most folks hands. 47mm is a nice fit.
Would it be too much to ask the exact weight of the Titanium 47mm?? I don't mind waiting or spending the extra money. As always, Ricambi rocks Thanks Daniel
I misspoke, and apologize for the error in information. The Titanium knob is 238 grams; the aluminum one is 140 grams... according to my shipping scale. (My mind was thinking titanium vs. steel wheel bolts. Me kinda slow this morning!)
So a 47mm Titanium gear knob weight's only 8oz's????????? That seems extremely light for a solid 47mm knob with a hole drilled in the middle..... Am I dreaming???...lol Thanks a million Daniel..
Again, many thanks Daniel. BTW, I am going to be removing the heads to be reworked. I am going to need some tools for this.......Hill Engineering has a 355 Head Tool Spanner(AV2906) do you have a pic to post for me and all others that may be interested??? Regards
Titanium always looks the same. The aluminum gets cloudy in time. I bought the titanium knob. Worth it. Rodney
http://www.ricambiamerica.com/product_info.php?cPath=600_100042&products_id=335960 We're trying to substantially clean-up/reorganize the way Hill Engineering items are listed on our site. Bear with us!
As an aside, those titanium lugs are waaaay lighter than 30%! (They are designed differently to achieve it) Scott
The titanium is a nice way to go, but I like the look of the polished one (chrome). It gets a little hot in the sun, but if you remember to throw a towel over it when parking it is not a problem. BT
In the days before dirt, back when the sun was cool, I bought my shift knob from Voodoo. It's a satin finish and has been in my car for years. It looks like the manufacturing and sale of the knobs has been licensed to Thompson, but you can find them here: http://www.thompson-automotive.com/catalog/item/2577763/6167074.htm
I have a Hill Engineering shift knob that I brought from Daniel, the finish is fantastic and it receives comments from most Ferrari owners who sit in my car. "How do you keep you knob so shiny" I always laugh
