IMO they are one of the few true "artists" in rap/hip hop.

Always been a fan of the lyrics by Notorious B.I.G, Eminem and Xzibit. The lesser they rap about bling the better. I'm not that into this genre but these stood out clearly. Give them a listen :)

Anything from GA, Florida, etc would be right up your alley...

    Gucci Mane
    Soulja Boy
    Project Pat/Three 6 Mafia
    etc

Though I have a hard time believing you listen to rap haha.

Oh well, I enjoy it too. The more ignorant, the better.

Jerry, I went to high school with Chamillionaire and Paul Wall. One of my friends actually grew up with them.

It's pretty awesome to remember seeing them freestyling at lunch to table top beats. Never thinking one day they'll be well known.

I suggest checking out some of Chamillionaires old stuff and freestyles.

If you look into more refined stuff that is not only rap but truly hip hop i recommend anything that came from the Def Jux label:
    El-P
    Aesop Rock
    RJD2
    Cannibal Ox

+ DJ Shadow, + Mos Def... classics.

That's awesome! I love music from Houston.. Slim Thug, Cham, all those guys.

And a big LOL at some of the responses in this thread. Jerry said he likes party rap and you're suggesting RJD2?

    Mos Def and Talib Kwali.

Mos Def is now a actor/rapper and I think a great actor, he played the black guy in the 'italian job' remake and that movie 16 blocks with Bruce Willis.

Super super talented and a awesome flow.

    :)

I go in and out of a rap phase a couple times a year. Right now I've got a mix of old swisha house stuff in my car.

tsssk. If you look into more refined stuff (...) i recommend

I know it's not party rap AT ALL. But as guys started to suggest things that were going way beyond party rap i mentionned those.

    Appreciate all the responses.

Some of y'all missed the 'party/strip club' aspect.

Im already familiar with 90s rap, big fan of Public Enemy, Biggie, NWA and I actually know Snoop.

Im more interested in the newer stuff right now, Ive noticed my taste definitely seems to lean towards the GA/Miami scene. I like the fun party vibe with the choruses...it reminds me of 80s hair metal. Its all about sex drugs and rock n roll (or in this case rap)

These new rappers are like the rock stars of the 90s. I like their style.

So far I think T.I./Rihanna 'Live Your Life', Jay Z/Rihanna 'Run This Town' and Rick Ross/T Pain 'The Boss' are three of the greatest songs I have ever heard in my life...all three blow me away

Jay-Z's newest album(blueprint 3) is great and has 'run this town' on it.
Eminem's newest album 'Relapse' is awesome as well, more of his orignal style and way way better then the last album he put out, more of the 'angry eminem' we all know and love.
