loud enough to hear it if I just stand behind the car .

background: timing belt done within the last 1000 miles with new tensioners.
so I opened the engine inspection panel behind the seats again and the noise is coming from there.

I tried to pinpoint which pulley or tensionor or wheel is it coming from with no avail.

is my only solution now to try to replace pulleys one by one and see which one is faulty?
or is there any good bet? which one is the most likely to have a problem?

if a bearing is bad, you can isolate that with a stethoscope.

Once you remove the belts there is a very good chance you can identify which one it is by spinning each bearing by hand. A bearing that is noisy almost always feels rough compared to good bearing which has no grind or metallic feeling at all.

If you have a serpentine belt, that is likely the source of chirping. A very tiny misalignment of any pulley results in chirping. The solution is a Goodyear GatorBack belt. The ridged belt allows for a small misalignment without noise.

If you do not have a serpentine belt, I can't help you.

I had the same sound you describe. It was AC the idle pulley. Does turning the AC on make it better or worse?
