Hi all I fitted aftermarket CF air boxes with K&N filters It now makes a loud hissing sound from the left side of the car under acceleration Is this normal or did I fit them wrong ?
From a company called exoticargear Look them up The muffler is Capristo 3....sounds awesome Image Unavailable, Please Login
Either the silicone connectors to the MAF or the joint between the air box and the mating flange. My bet would be on the former. Check the hose clamps. Alan
My car does the same thing, with OEM airboxes. I've removed and installed them a few times now and I am very confident they are installed properly. You really think that noise is a problem? I have always just attributed it to the sound of air being sucked into the throttle bodies. My other car with an aftermarket intake makes the same noise, just not perceived as loud since the actual air intake duct isn't as close to my head as it is in the 360.
I posted a BMC air filter video with sound awhile back... Maybe it would help? http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430/415852-woosh-sound.html If it is similar, I think it is just due to a higher flow of air rushing past resonators that were designed for a slightly lower flow.
Yes this noise is normal. The left side rear intake is the direct feed to the air box housing. With the increased flow of the filter and the added resonance of the air boxes allowing less restriction that the factory boxes. it is a beautiful noise to hear the engine taking a breath !! I am glad you chose our products. As far as filters, we have just completed development of a high flow filter 99.8 flow efficiency that uses a silicone based cleaner and conditioner that will not affect the MAF sensors over time like the oiled serviced filters.
