    That's a bit harsh IMO.

LeClerc is used to driving high downforce, mechanically perfect cars with sticky rubber.

Charles: "I lost the brakes. I braked, the pedal was hard, and it went to the floor. I was lucky to have it at that moment, because if I had had it at another place, it was no good… the problem is that I got scared. I arrived normally in the corner."

    Agree.

A missed shift could also be the culprit but I doubt it was a case of driving without due care...

Damage didn't look too bad in grand scheme of things. Will get repaired again.

Would actually be nice to see more active F1 drivers participate in a little demonstration here every year....

    Brake failure.
    Simple as that.

    Agreed.

CL makes quite a lot of mistakes, doesn’t he?

Max made exactly the same mistake two years in row in Monaco.

Why did CL not drive the damaged car into the pit lane?

If true then he shouldn't pilot an almost fifty year old single-seater.
Do you really believe the factory would let him race at Monaco a NON-mechanically perfect car that was prepared by Corse Clienti in Maranello/Fiorano?
Guys, be a bit more realistic, even CL is just a human being, everybody can make a mistake.

It is clear from the video footage that he modified his turn-in point—because the car didn’t stop—so straight-lined it to try to gain some room to stop and then just turned in to try to make the corner.

Yeah, because no team has EVER sent a car out of the pits with an issue and things never break on cars that are 50 years old!

Oversteer???(the back went from underneath him) as in carrying a bit too much speed into Rascasse??

It looked to me almost like he spun the car—to avoid going in noise first—after turning out of the apex. Obviously carrying too much speed to make the apex, but why—missed braking point or brake issue?

He’d already done a couple of laps so I assume he wasn’t surprised by the handling of the car especially at the slow Rascasse, so brake issue is plausible explanation.

Well, he made the hairpin, then the Mirabaeu turn before the tunnel, then the Nouvelle Chicane......which all require the right amount of braking and speed given the car.
Ickx and Alesi made it thru the track in their respective vintage Ferraris.

True, but Max came out of an F3 car into F1 and ''flipped a switch'' after 2018.

Leclerc now has a lot of very fast single seater experience now and the small mistakes should be ironed out. So far only the one (Imola), I'm not counting today at all.
