#8 sold a little while ago for $600,000 odd to a Chinese businessman. Anyway, #8s a lucky number culturally for some people, so it's always going to worth more to someone that #7 or #9.
some crazy chinaman will pay anything for a lucky number. anyone out there with the plates 58, 66, 168, 518, sell them to a Chinaman, they'll pay big bucks! 168 might worth more than 8
because in Chinese, the pronunciation of 5 is very similar to "I (me)" 8 is very similar to "be rich" 6 has very similar pronouciation as "road", and is also been considered as a lucky number for all chinese, and chinese like things in pairs, so 66, double the luck and happiness. so you put them together, 58 means (i'll be rich), 168 means (one way to wealth) The Chinese are probably the most superstitious people on this planet; theyll pay big money for these things.
actually I was told 8 means luck in Chinese so the more "8"s you have the luckier you are ....... must be why my dad stopped at 8 kids
Hard to know as they almost never change hands and when they do it is always privately. At a guess, I would say the vic "1" is circa $2 million.
not quite. 6 actually means luck. 8 by itself actually means the growth of something, but somehow through time it meant the growth of one's wealth, not luck tho.
