Keep it coming, Malcolm, brings back a lot of memories! Incidentally, apart from the urban legend that one couldn't enetr Harry's Bar and not find royalty inside, their true claim to fame is that they invented carpaccio Great photo's!
Leaving Florence, we went the long way to Sienna, visiting a waklled city whose name I have forgotten, maybe Voltare, "on the way", then spending two nights in Sienna, and off to Genova to catch the ferry to Palermo. This twenty hour ride is actually nice enough, the boat is clean, they know how to load and unload it, and there is a good restaurant which is strangley open only for a few hours the night of sailing. When we arrived we were met by the VCCP and the police who guided us to the square where we had our credentials checked, got the route book, and went down the street for dinner. The night run started around 9:00pm, getting out of Palermo is a mess especially since the route book used approximate" distance numbers. Once we were clear of the city it was fun, a beautiful warm summer night. We found the check points, got bottles of wine from the Ferrari Club Partinico, and had gelato in the middle of the night, eventually winding up at the hotel Malcolm Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

OK, last batch, I think "we" have beat this one to death. The car arrived home yesterday covered with 4500 KM's of grime, rolled off the truck, connected the battery, started first time. Bellisimo. Malcolm These are from Ravello and Portifino, both lovely. Malcolm, Thanks much for the write-ups and the photos. Both are equally fantastic. The TFS is now truly on the top of my 'to do' list, there is nothing to replace an event in 'the home country' of these superb automobiles, and one can clearly see why the Italians are so good at what they do, their environment is more inspiring than any other I know. Why do I suddenly get the smell of frutti di mare misto caldo in my nose?
Hi, I'm visiting from another forum. Thanks to all involved for providing such evocative pictures. Does anyone have confirmed dates for the 2010 Giro di Sicilia? I understand it will be in May sometime? Thanks, cheers.
Thanks. I have been checking the website since the 09 Giro, but nothing doing. No response from email to the address given. It is Italy, I suppose.. Will post up here if I get anything confirmed. Cheers.
Ah Venezia. Even with the tourist and the traps it truly is a sight to behold. Thanks for the travelog. -F
