Hi! I'm hoping some of you Ferrari fans here has some information on the history of my car. I recently bought a 308 GTB 77 model in Giallo modena with tan Interior. It was sold in to Norway back in 2006 and ship over then. Its chassie number #20945, if anybody in here has any history or just a picture of the car please let me know Kjerand Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well done! Welcome. I have no info on your car, but my #20405, is actually late 1976 production. It has always ben titled as a "1977" but more correctly it's a 1976 in Ferrari's view.
Did you get the original books and manuals?? There is a "Warranty Service Booklet" that was used by the selling dealer, and that is the ONLY place on the entire car, will show the selling dealership and owners name. If not you have to chase it down from dealer records and not ma of them retain the 70s paper...it's long gone!
Your car has the North American version rectangular fender marker lights. That is interesting and not normally found on a European market car, (they are round, as well as wired to the turn signals, to flash). It's fun figuring all this stuff out! I have no early records at all, of #20405
I don't have the warrenty book from the dealer... the car was sold in the us back in 2006 to a Norwegian man that imported it to Norway. So its a all american model exported. I got some paperwork with the car, some of them states a owner as cannillo motorsports in the USA. Any in here that knows something abouth them? Searching for the history is part of the fun of owning a classic car. :=)
I believe that dealership is still around.. The difficultly in tracking history on these 5 number VINs is that they do not fit into computers! So for good or bad, if you cannot find actual paper files, it disappears into the mist of time. Good luck, beautiful car! My #22127 is yellow/black/Boxer trim.
Oh, I suggest you contact the 'Ferrari Market Letter', as they do track both 5 number VINS and sales ads, for documentation...Try there!!! They may well have some info, of its travels in America. Luckily 1977 was the "last year" here before engine changes reduced performance. NON CAT cars are rapidly being recognized now by the market. Can you Private Message me the value of your car, there? What you paid? I am forced to sell one of mine.
