Was driving on a freeway tonight w/ a couple friends, 3 lanes, 2 right lanes merge together, guy cuts me off missing me by a foot or so. I slammed on my brakes so he missed me. I pulled into the far left lane, pulled next to him, looked at him and he literally RAMMED me. I missed the concrete median by a few inches, I thought I hit it. this all happened so fast I must have been able to swerve back. He ran away, and unfortunately I thought i caught his plate but it turned up nothing.

That SUCKS! I hope you called the cops and described him and the car!!!

Hope they catch the bastard. You should file charges. Reckless endangerment at the very least...

    Good luck.

That's a good amount of info. Cops should be able to cross-check NJ registerd Chevy Cavaliers with those three letters anywhere in the plate. Shouldn't take their computers too long.

It can be a pain in the A$$ to deal with stuff like this, but I really do hope you pursue it. Anything that gets A-holes like this off the road...

I assume you weren't hurt, of course, but what's the damage to your car?

Rule #2 -- If the guy was ****** enough to take a run at your the first time, stay as far away from him as you can. You prove nothing by chasing him, jesturing at him or even looking at him. If you must, mutter under your breath as you put ground between you and him. Self-preservation, above all.

Unless you are crazier than he is and willing to risk losing it all to make a meaningless point, why take that chance. Glad the incident only ended up in some bent metal. I don't know how fast the cars were going, but a less experienced driver could easily have spun out and ended up flipping the car. Some ****** on the highway ain't worth losing your life over.

Be safe, and hope they catch the b-stard and string him up by his balz. (But they won't, so write it off to a bad night and go on with your life).

A question... was the driver awake? It sounds possible that the guy was 1/2 asleep or fully asleep when he drifted into your lane the first time and actually hit you the second time....

even if he was, it's still wrong!

Thats crazy, bro. Youre lucky to be alive. I used to get all "raged" out by the A holes on the road. But you know what, you never know who or what youre dealing with. Its better to turn the other cheek.

There will always be jerk offs on the road doing jerk off things. Let it roll off your back and leave them be. What if that nut job last nite had a .38 and pointed it at you and pulled the trigger? Not so far fetched a story in today's world.

Still though. You know the color, make and model and a partial plate. That should be enough for police to investigate and get a list of possible perps. I would think.

I agree, plus not worth messing up your car for anyone. If you have a problem with someones driving or they think they can "race" you, take it to the track or demolition derby:)

Sorry I haven't posted since last night but I have been at work all day. Everyone was ok in the car, my friend did have his arm out the window only a few seconds prior to this, when he cut me off; he pulled his arm back in.

Vik, it was intentional. I admit I shoudln't have pulled up and started yelling but when your adrenaline gets going, you don't think. He purposely swerved and rammed my car. I know 100% it was intentional, and am 100% pissed as well that noone who saw it (busy highway) pulled over as a witness or even see if we were alright.

I brought it to the body shop this morning for an estimate, they quoted approx. $2700. I'll admit I thought it was much worse when he hit me and I got out. Thankfully I just missed the median. I have to wait for the insurance comp. to come out and check it out, I'd like this all taken care of before I go back to school in 2 weeks. This guy had to have been on something to do this.

I will post pictures later tonight.

    Thanks for everyones concern.

    We're talking about a civic here ;).

Everyone keeps telling me I should have let it go and not done anything else. But i'm pissed that I didn't chase him down to get a plate num., I thought I knew it but obviously didn't.

Trust me, I'm going to pursue this. I meant its a civic, not really a car you can race or use in a car derby. It is my baby.

Do not get the car fixed until they catch the guy .
They will need to match up the paints from your car to his .

This is good advice. It's about the only physical evidence you have.
