I would say a SUV is at fault with the dent that high. It also looks like a direct hit which makes me think that you got bumped when the other "car" was backing up. Sorry to hear about that. I am always concerned when taking my 328 out and not watching it.

Sorry to hear that. Keep a shotgun in the car, just in case you find out what car did this and took off..... ;-)

Only 3 cars in the parking lot, quite a distance away, you would probably stick out like a sore thumb and would be hard to miss. My personal feeling is someone was jealous and gave you a ding. I hope I am wrong, cause I own a 328 as well but a car like yours would be hard to miss on a parking lot with only 3 cars on it unless Stevie Wonder was driving the othe car.

These cars sit so low they are often not seen. That said, this guy is a complete a$$ without any honor for not owning up and at least leaving a note....

you call that a ding? :) don't sweat it. my 308 got backed into last year at the rear quarter, near the door. find a good body shop and they will fix it right. if you have collectible insurance, the ins. co will pay the extra $ charged by the really good shops.

Unbelievable. Someone knew exactly what s/he did and decided to leave instead of taking responsibility for whacking a Ferrari.

As Ed said, though, it's very fixable. Body-on-frame cars can take a lot more than that.

Any chance there's surveillance film from the parking lot?

My heart goes out to ya. This is why despite trying to let my guard down i'm constantly checking my car from the window of Publix or Starbucks.

It looks like an easy fix though.

    Sorry.

California law mandates that, if you hit a car, you must first look for the owner and then if you cannot find him you must leave a note. Problem is, the only real penalty for hit and run is you have to pay for the damages. So, it pays to hit and run. That's really f'd up. This is a time when punitive damages would help. Hit a car and take off you risk not only having to pay for what you've done but punishment damages as well. Hey, wasn't that the real purpose of "punitive" damages to begin with? To punish?

True, BUT, now these are cars with accident damage, original Ferrari sheet metal damage. It's not like you can just pop a new fender on. When my Porsche was hit and the guy ran I prayed I'd have a Louisville slugger if/when I ever found the guy.

I would like to hear from a lawyer on that. My understanding is that hit and run is a felony. I had a roomate in college that tapped someone when he rolled back at a light on a hill and he drove away because he didn't even feel it (he was learning to drive a manual). The police showed up at the apartment and arrested him. There were no marks on either car.

I agree with the delivery truck theory. You should talk to the manager and see if any deliveries were made at the time of your visit. The manager should be accomodating. Then a visit to the company for a quick inspection of the trucks, may reveal where your missing paint resides. A bit of a long shot, but what the heck, I am sure you would love to find the idiot and make him/her responsible for his/her actions! If you parked a far distance away from the restuarant, maybe the delivery was made at an adjacent business. Don't forget the garbage trucks, they have terrible vision backing up and a small car is easily obscured from view. I would be willing to bet that whatever hit you still has the evidence of the crime on it...If you think you have a hot lead, turn it over to the police, as I am sure they will gladly take the appropriate actions, and that would avoid any chance of a flare up on your part. Best of luck and I feel for you and your car.

Hit and runs in parking lots happen all the time. Too bad it happened to your 308. My daughter was at a mall a couple of years ago with her "pride and joy" VW Jetta. She always took really good care of it, even as a college kid. She went in the mall with a friend of hers for a few minutes and came out to find the driver's side of her car virtually destroyed. It appeared that someone in an SUV, either pulling in or out, side swiped her car, from just before the driver's door all the way to the rear quarter panel, and ripped the driver's mirror right off. Now, you can't tell me that the driver didn't realize what s/he had done. Of course, no one was in sight and no note. No witnesses as well.

Such is life these days. Face it, most people suck. They don't give a damn about other people's property and won't take responsibility for their own actions. Welcome to the New America, land of the morally bankrupt.

Well the car is in the body shop, lots of respect and promises of performing a great job.

oh yea, I ordered 4 new lights from Trutlands to make you guys happy about returning it to original. I liked the four red lights, buts it's time to change it back. :)
    Pre-accident photos

Thanks for all the advice and support from everyone. You guys are great !!! :)

Sorry about the damage, it sucks when people don't live up to their mistakes, but unfortunately that's the way most people are now-a -days. Glad to see that she is being fixed and back on the road soon.

North American amber/reverse lights are hard to find sometimes, if you can get a set now I'd do that...red ones are easier for some reason.
