I was exchanging some PMs this morning with cwkwok (about getting cars fixed) and we came to the conclusion that since between us we do know a few HK based FChatters, that maybe we should maybe organise a get together, either over th holidays or early in the new year.

Perhaps we can take a poll as to who might be interested and available.....and when is best for each of us. Perhaps then we can work out if it is worth having a get together and when.

    Any views?

    Thanks
    PAUL

Paul, I'd enjoy meeting you properly instead of a few seconds in morning traffic. I'm already on holiday though, back in HK Jan 3. Will you be around in Jan?

Great idea, glad Sir Paul is taking action to arrange the gathering, can't wait to check out your SA up close. I agree with JZND we can arrange a gathering that's longer than just a quick morning drive. If we can find a place where we can park our cars together, and have a few drinks, or lunch / breakfast (or even after after dinner drinks) on a day off, it would be great. I am flexible, will be in HK all of Christmas to CNY holiday. What about a Sunday morning or Saturday night in early January, say the weekend of Jan 7 or 14th? We can all drive and meet up in say, Disney Hotel's parking lot or Stanley's restaurant strip?

What you are suggesting is a great idea.
Here in Aussie we have gone further than that.
We have an event we call the GG(golden guitar). There is a thread with generalisations but usually no specific details(they are PM'd or,now, personaly emailed).

We meet, coming from around the East coast of Aussie,at a country town where there is a huge guitar,(for obvious reason the exact location will not be posted).

We have had 2 so far(an annual event) and is a great driving and HIGHLY!! socialising event, finding great and usually uncluttered roads(the event is NOT held in school holiday time).

For no real reason(it hasn't been broached),it has been an all male affair, and yes there are MANY irreverencies made about THAT!!!

Many great friendships have come of it,to the extent that I will be doing a classic event with one of the blokes in March this coming year.

Do it chaps, you will have a blast, even if you aren't fortunate enough to have the space to let your steed off it's reigns, the social aspect is worth it.

I would love to join in, so long as car ownership is not a prerequisite. It would be great to meet some fellow HK petrol-heads and I'd relish the opportunity to get some photos of HK F-chatters cars. I'm in the UK at the moment but back in HK on the 14th Jan.

Back in HK in 2012. Sunday morning good idea. Prefer some place with reasonable food as I will bring my kids in my 612!

I would be very pleased to host breakfast in the Bistro at the Yacht Club in Causeway Bay.

It is a breakfast buffet. Nothing fancy but a good hearty breakfast.

There is plenty of parking and it is easy to get to for anyone not driving, and if we are breakfasting, I can make advance car number arrangements for access.

There is an outdoor section if the weather is nice and indoor section if weather is bad.

I have checked the calendar for any Sailing events and the following sundays look clear:

    15th January
22nd January (but it is the day before CNY and the CNY Macau sailing race starts the next day so may be busy with folks doing preparations.....not sure how busy at breakfast time though....probably not so busy then)
    29th January

Perhaps we can take a poll as to which date is most favoured and we can go with the one that suits most?.......and what time? say 8am onwards?

Alternatively, Disneyland Hotel is a good, but some folks might need to hitch a ride. I would really like RWP to be able to make it. He makes some great contributions to the forum. I would be happy to bring you (RWP) as long as my wife does not want to come...or unless I bring the Merc instead (a bugger, these two seaters!) !!!

Please let us know everyones thoughts or alternative suggestions.

    Thanks
    PAUL

    Your note is apt.
    For our first GG,we had a diverse group of cars,ie-Lotus Elise(snap!),several Porsche-944 Turbo,996,997GT3 turbo(or something),Subaru WRX,RangeRover!!,Skyline(current).....and Ferrari-365GT4 2+2,Daytona chopper,308QV,Testa Rossa(512),355 Challenge,430 Scud.
I think that was it,I'll go an have a look at the thread and check.
Doesn't matter what you bring,in the end we're all motorheads and started somewhere.

Keen to see how you go blokes, will be following your progress.

As I said in my invitation....ownership is not pre-requisite. Anyway the F-Chat "HK Exotic Spotting" thread is much more than Ferrari owners or even Ferrari only fans. In fact some of our best contributions and photographs come from non Ferrari owners! They should indeed be very welcome too.

Sounds like breakfast at Yacht Club on 15th is a plan. When we get a bit closer we can see who is bringing cars and maybe those that are can PM me the reg numbers so I can pre-arrange access.

RWP, I can probably still give you a ride home if I have the SA!

    Thanks
    PAUL

Yacht Club 15th is a good plan and I will definitely come if I am in HK. I went dog sledding today and this is a must add to your list of must do's. 10 Alaskan Huskys at full tilt on a bumpy trail through trees is absolutley awesome.

I'm in for jan 15. I'm expecting a delivery from the stork, so bar that happening on or before that time I'm good.

Really looking forward to meeting you guys. May be the last meet before I hand over the keys of my 997 to the dealership.

If you don't mind an old chick whose 308 is back in Australia coming along, I'd like to meet up with some fellow petrolheads. My car is actually an ex-HK car (came to Aus in 2001/2) and I live here again now...
