Just make sure to make his pizza with extra trans-fats.
That's why the jokes on him. He's serious and that's what makes it funny. Play along. Tell him the reason you have a fire extinguisher in the cab is because it's a Pontiac. -F
Hey Chris, I know, kind of annoying. I wouldn't even worry about it. He obviously doesn't know the difference. Next time he comes in ask him how his last pizza was and give him a wink, then he can start to think about it. Henry
I doubt the guy was serious..... sounds like he was playing you. I wouldn't think twice about this....... maybe tell him if you charged a bit more for toppings you could get a real one.
I giggled reading your post. I had this happen to me at the gas station. An older man (60-65) walked up and told me I had a nice kit car, in fact, one of the best he has seen! he then walked away to his Older Porsche Turbo (Super Clean 80's or early 90's turbo) I kinda giggled then too
Why waste the energy getting upset over what some ignoramous thinks your car is. Once they say its something its not, they already show they have no clue, or wernt paying attention. But when they argue with you about it, then they really show either how ignorant they are, or to what level they will decend to try to humiliate someone. I dont even much bother to correct anyone if they call the 308 a mustang. If they are that ignorant it wont matter anyway. I bought my car for me, not really for anyone else. The less people who know what it really is, the better. Besides, you cant be insulted if you dont care, right? Also, I think its fair to say that some people, perhaps this customer, see the car as something they are paying for by buying stuff from you. It just cements the fact in thier mind that theyre paying for you to own something nice by you overcharging them.
Chris next time someone mention about being a kit car just say "I did'nt even know they make a kit car" But none the less he may have the last word but you had the last laugh.
I'm surprised at your offense to someone who thinks a Ferrari is a Fiero, and also thinks a Fiero is a kit car. What a tool.
This is why you do not want to bring your Ferrari to work if you are a small businessman. The public does not mind paying for pizza from a struggling small businessman, but does have an issue paying for your "extravagent" toys.
Well, I did get some sleep last night and I'm all over the shock. Like I said, it felt weird when someone says something like that. You go along with it first but then it's like 'Hey, this guy is serious." But I'm over it and I'm ready to tackle the day. Thanks to everybody for coming to the aid and helping me threw this stressful time.
It's up to us to educate the public! I was on display this weekend, alongside later cars like a fully optioned f1 360.... As a lady and her daughter looked at mine the woman whispered to this sweet 16 blond: "This car is very, very VERY expensive!"..... I stepped over and engaged them with "No, not so much really, maybe only ONE 'very' would be enough........" LOL! Then I'll admit I winked at the pretty young thing....... There ya go......
Only had 1 guy ask me if the 328 was a kit car, it was at a stop light. When I told him it was the rear thing, he just said, "cool man, looks great." Didn't even try to drag race me when the light changed.
Sometimes it is better this way. After a while, I got tired of a certain crowd "feeling", examining even trying to open the doors or the engine bay on my first 308 QV I finally started the rumor that it was a kit car ...The interest dropped sharpely for the "unaware" and they left the car alone . The others understood, smile and simply waited from a distance to hear the REAL thing...Just sit in and enjoy the ride!
Hi Guys: I was out this weekend for a test drive - two pickup drivers at a red light approved of my car. One gave me (two) thumbs up, the other said "great car". Reminds me also of a time when a local deputy stopped all traffic to see if everyones inspection was up to date. He was flustered when he found the classic plate on mine - and challenged me with "is this really a classic?" (At the time the car was not old enough for antique plates) Pickup driver in other lane waiting his turn leaned out the window and exclaimed "YOU BET IT IS" The deputy was so disconcerted he missed the fact that I was out of inspection. Makes up for the time a guy at work asked me who owned that red MG in my parking space. Moral of the story - who cares what people think. But don't underestimate those pickup drivers. Cheers Warren
Midlife chrisis car Car for guys with small p@nis etc, etc. Frankly, why do you even care what others think? Seems to me he has power over you, as it appears you spend an inordinate amount of time on his few simple words. (Rhetorical question) Is there some deficiency in your life that makes you spend this amount of time?
I had a brand-new 1969 Porsche 911T Targa...it was probably the first or second 6-cylinder Targa in Oklahoma City at the time. I had it parked top down at the Sears store while I was buying some tools. A little old lady comes up to me as I am getting in the car, and says "Young man, is this one of those Japanese sports cars I keep hearing about?" I proudly told her, no - this is a real Porsche 911, made in Germany. She sadly walks away, kind of shaking her head...and mumbles "So it's not Japanese? My grandson wants one of those Japanese sports cars" --- I just hope grandson had his eye on one of those Toyota 2000GTs, LOL...
Drove into a petrol station last year and teh guy in front asked me if my 348 was a replica. I told him it was'nt and he then walked around it checking over carefully, before coming up to me and telling me about the 355 replica he had at home. On another occasion i was in a McDonalds drive through (yes... you read that right ) and some kids came out of the adjoining Pizzahut and asked if it was a replica as the manager in the Pizzahut told them it was.
if only they all knew..haha...jokes on them! I was driving through a parking lot and some young "kids"...20ish commented "nice volkswagen".. yea right!.. another time I was at NAPA (looking for the "right" part) and when the parts employee asked what car the part was for I made the mistake of telling him (Ferrari)..he commented "well you bought that car"..I felt like telling him off but just kept my mouth shut..
