I'm looking for a hobby and I think I would really like racing. I like watching races and I'm sure participating would be even better. My question is: If I were to start, what cars should I look at? My range is about $10k What are your hobbies? Post some pictures
A few Hobbies: driving my car, i love it cars cars cars drinking beer on Sunday And yes I love watching races too! I have been quite a few times but only was apart of one. I'm planning on going to more in the future, its a really fun thing to do.
I study, keep, and raise colonies of ants. It is probably the cheapest hobby one could have...free. I'll post some pictures later.
I like building small engines that run. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Racing sims. Motorycles. I "collect" e-books of interest to me, have about 50 GB of technical textbooks and car/motorcyle manuals currently. Cleaning up after my toddler. So I usually surf for e-books while she makes a mess, I clean it up, realize it is too late to go for a ride, and just play a video game before bed...
my hobby is farming/land preservation: restoration and reclaimation of land to its indigenus and native enviornment keeps me busy if not hunting the lands. It is a counter balance to real estate development. If you are looking for a hobby sharing your time w/ others less fortunate is the best hobby of all. all the best,
Quad .049??? How do you verify that all 4 engines are running when you fire it up? If one glow plug never gets hot enough to maintain the combustion, how can you tell?
I would second that. Spec Miata is HUGE and you should be able to find a race easily within driving distance. The costs are reasonable as well. I can point you towards a good Spec Miata resource if you'd like.
I haven't raced in a few years, but the Nitro R/C boat hobby was great fun. I used a Thunder Tiger 3.5 OB with a Dumas Hot Shot Sprint ABS boat. Total cost of the setup was less than $500, and they run (with about $30 worht of parts per weekend) for years. Don't forget to bring a raft or canoe to go fetch the boats when they flip. BT
When you do that kind of stuff, do you go with your friend who have R/C boats also? Or by yourself? Doesn't it get boring after a while too? I play tennis and soccer already, but I'd like to have something that takes up all of my time, like maintaining a semi-nice cars for example.
i like woodworking, sports (both following and playing) memorabilia collecting, and i love movies. i've got a collection of about 200 movies, and love em all.
Models of all kinds - car, airplane, armor, trains. And one from the dark zone - amateur follower of Cosmology and Physics. I have a pretty decent collection of amateur science and physics books & keep about a dozen of them on the library shelf here at the office. Several of the other workers are also interested in this, and we trade books back and forth to read. No - we do not enrich uranium in our basements. We just like to keep up with the latest developments in this field.
Don't have much spare time ATM, but I like good sounding speakers and powerful high end amp's, along with good high def picture TV/ Bluray movies and PS3/ 360 games with friends. This wins during the fall/winter period. The summer is spent on driving. In 2007 I bought a 1984 Mini with much rust and shabby engine, spent hundreds of hours restoring it. Got tired and moved on. Not my thing doing that kind of stuff, lots of frustration unless you have a big, light and airy garage...! I've been bitten by the motorcycle bug so I've just started the bike lisence and will get a Ducati Monster when I'm allowed! This year it's time to see if I'm a bike person too. I'm guessing next year (summer) it's the start of a track/ rally car project, with base of a new Evolution X or IX MR which is going to get all the usuals as interior strip, upgraded suspension/breaks and I can get Norris Design of UK (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PftxK4873BU) to build me a hp-monster... It will be used on frozen ice lakes during the winter with the right WRC tyres (http://www.gundersenmotorsport.com/gundersen%20motorsport%20dekk%20010.jpg) and attitude. Most of my spare time is spent with friends involving either cars/bikes or audio/video. Too much fun too little time. Wohoo.
Used to do a lot of woodwork, back when I had access to a shop at school, and my parents garage. Unfortunately now that I'm moved out, don't have anywhere to do it, so thats taken a dive. Same thing happened with photography, no longer have access to the fast computer with CS2 on it, so I do less of that. I do have a couple nice cameras though, but less creativity it seems. On top of those, I still write quite a bit, draw.. that kind of thing. Used to paint too.
