little f'ing goon. this from watching too much NHL or seeing too many minor league goons, hope that kid was ok.
Nice hit... looks like he probably just got the wind knocked out of him. I've had it happen to me quite a few times. It's just part of the game. If you can't handle it, don't play.
I played JR. hockey in Canada years ago..................... That was a totally clean hit. He didn't leave his feet and there were no elbows up. 100% clean
Clean hit. I'm sure the kid blanked out. I got hit from behind by a guy twice my size during a college house league game. It was behind the net. I only remember skating from the hash marks to the bench and everyone asking me if i was okay. No pain lol. I flew off to okanajan for a week long hockey camp the next morning. lol scott stevens wasn't a goon though. just a really really hard and skilled hitter. as we all saw in the 95 playoffs against the red wings and when he took lindros out a second time.
And exactly what could he do if the kid was not OK? Sometimes it is just better to stay out of the way so the proper authorities can handle the situation.
Is that Okanogan? BC? I used to live up there. It was a clean hit. Weak glass. The punk did crouch down and then rise to the hit, but it was clean. Certainly could have shown more class. Especially at such a young age. Its supposed to be for fun at that age (I know better, but it still should be).
It is for fun. I can pretty much guarantee that the kid who was on the receiving end of that hit would have done the same thing if presented with the opportunity. It's part of the game, and part of what makes it fun.
Not the hit, the actions afterwards. I play hockey too..in a rec league. Yes, there are some pretty brutal hits, but its usually followed by a helping hand and words like "you alright?" I don't expect the kid to pick up the boy he hit....but at least make sure he's alright after he collapses. I know I didn't see the whole thing, and maybe the kid came up after the game and checked on him, I don't know. I already said it was a clean hit. It just looked bad.
Yep! Whoops, bit of a typo in the name spelling, that's what happens when you're regularly up until the sun starts to rise.
You just don't get a perfect shot like that every day! 14 must have been spoting more wood than his stick watching that one set up.
That's alright. I lived in Kelowna for 9 years. Very cool that you played junior hockey there. Did you play with the Rockets? Spartans? Or did you play in Vernon or Penticton? *edit* sorry for the hijack...I guess this oughta be continued in PM's.
