I notice the 430 price curve is within or below the 100k mark. A few years ago it was quite different. The downward trend seems consistent before it goes back up. Now is it safe to believe the 458 will follow the same trajectory. Ther are a few in the low 100k mark. My thinking is another year or so most 458 will be priced even lower for the picking. Anyone thinks my prediction is right on the money or should I quit predicting and keep my day job?

Normal depreciation. Appreciation won't come until the cars become rare and with the 458, there are a lot of them.

And the 430 has held pretty well. 4 years ago one could be had for $125/130k and some are still near that today. Yes some are $100. Milage and condition will drive the number as always

Don't forget to factor into your thinking the fact that the 458 may well be the last naturally aspirated V8 from Maranello. I wouldn't be surprised if that, combined with the meaningful departure in looks from its two predecessors, could play well for its long term value. Dave makes a good point about the production numbers though.

I've seen 458s for 125K. Albeit rentals but I've seen them. They are awesome cars. I am looking for an FF and I am being picky because I plan to keep the car for a while. 430 is awesome too but 458-488 are just WOW!

Mike, hush hush on the "the last naturally aspired v8 from Maranelo". You gonna cause a stamped at the Collector World.

Good points, Mike. And those points are several reasons why I will get one at some point. The 488 does nothing for me - but I love the 458

For a modern Ferrari deal, a late model run 360 is probably the best buy right now. 430's are enticing, but a manual transmission (my preference) is going to be pricy.

I really like the looks of the 458 and for a while it was the only V8 car I've lusted for since the era of our cars. So I was really disappointed to read the thread where a member here sold his in favor of a Scud because the 458 was too bland to make his naughty bits tingle. I haven't driven one so I don't know, but I will say that the post 455/550 cars I've driven haven't really inspired me to the point of wanting to own one.

    Sorry. But perhaps you haven't heard-- like the 355, the 458 isn't a collector car. ;) ;) ;)

LoL I think you're out the loop. it's part of a ploy to keep the price on those cars down so the current owners will dump it dirt cheap. OK I said too much already.

I found and completely negotiated this 458 for my buddy. He trusted me to do the entire deal and he just handed over the check.

When we flew to F of fort Lauderdale to check it out, he wanted me to drive it first (tough life, huh? :) )

The car blew my mind. I got on it in first gear, pulled the paddle for second and it felt like 1000lbs pulling me into the seat.

    Nothing boring about a 458 :)

mmh clean low mile later model year 430 coupes are nowhere 100k and spiders are more. High mile 05s maybe. miller has 2 older 430 spiders with almost 20k miles for 115kish and they dont budge. Low mile 458 2010s are still in the 190s...and being the last normally aspirated v8 and how soft the 488 market is i wldnt expect to see 458s trade like FFs, not even close

When I get a 458, it will be an addition to the 355, not a replacement :)
