What would be the purpose of drilling small 1/32 inch holes in the distributor cap? 3 on the sides spaced 120 degrees apart and one on the top offset 1/4 in from center? I have never seen this before. The new caps came this way and was wondering if anybody had any ideas? The caps were such a good price I don't want to send them back. If anything, I would just seal them up with.....silicone, I guess. Any discussion on this would be appreciated. i have an email to the outfit that sold me the caps and am awaiting a reply.

The holes are there to help prevent condensation from forming inside the cap -- don't block them off.

I never saw any when I changed the plug wires a few days ago with the caps that are on there. Would they not have them and these would? Just beginning to wonder how blind I am anymore.

Possibly, often designs evolve over time as problems are found and addressed
